UA A350's

So far, it does not look like UA has deferred or postponed A350 deliveries. Believe the original UA (pre-merger) order was for 35 frames. With the 77W coming on line starting late this year and appearing to be a replacement aircraft for some SFO originating 744 flying and perhaps the ORD routes as w...

The article mentions SAA having to potentially cut its long haul network to just JFK, IAD, FRA, LHR. Interesting. I think this one has a lot more to do with government intervention/ownership than anything else. As it is not a private entity, I wonder if they will attract foreign investment (i.e. Eti...

Thank you for your feedback and replies. Very helpful and much appreciated. I ended up booking a R/T on AA/BA (into LHR and out of LGW) as the cost was just $150 more. Nothing against Norwegian. I think I would be checking a bag both ways and that would bring the fares close to parity.

I am planning to book a R/T to London for a week and the Norwegian flight between JFK and LGW is always the lowest fare, by almost $500, when compared to DL/VS, BA/AA, and UA (EWR). Alitalia (AZ) does fly nonstop from LAX to FCO on a seasonal basis. It is a route they have had on and off for years. They also attempted SFO-FCO in the 2000's but pulled it. I would be surprised if they withdrew the GVA-JFK flight. That flight is not just a UN shuttle, nor is it just a prestige route. I don't think UA ever flew LAX-MEL nonstop prior to launching the 787 route in October 2014. It was operated as a tag onto the LAX-SYD flight, connecting with the SFO-SYD service when that was added. Dropping ORD-DUS is hardly surprising. AA has always, it seems anyway, had a tough time in Germany.
