I think they could easily support a service to Birmingham- perhaps 3 times a week on the A310. I think Air India should see if they could set up a mini-hub in Dubai, like Qantas have done in Singapore. BA did post a tiny profit a while back (£25mill I think)

I suspect at the moment they are running at a small loss with SARS and the war. Even the Australian market, which is usually a strong one for BA is depressed at the moment.

I think it could swing either way.

BA already seem fairly close to Emirates, and they codeshare on flights to AUH.

However, AA also codeshare with Gulf Air.

BA use the 777 on one of the two daily flights to Tokyo

They also use it on all 4 weekly flights to Beijing.

I think a while ago they used to fly an additional 4 weekly flights to BKK with the 777.

Why do some airlines-like Cathay Pacific operate the B777 and the A333/343? Air China does this as well.

surely it would be more cost affective to operate just one type. For example CX could use just the 333/343 because they only have a couple of 777s.

The 764 is only economical on shorter routes. The problem is it is too big for short European routes and too small for short Asian routes, so, it's only market is the US. But, NW and US have already gone with the 330, and, AA have got the 763 and 772, leaving DL and CO as the only potential customer...
