Here is a Video from AKL last Night from the gate lounge of NZ24 to YVR being cancelled, if what the NZ gate agent is saying about Airport Company is true that is pretty shocking. AIAL does seem to have gone in near silent mode very little information has come out from them. https://www.tiktok.com/...Jump to post
I also believe so too. It appears to me that this is just a knee-jerk reaction in believe that COVID was going to last forever (clearly that's not the case, and was never going to be the case) Couldn't they score a bargain by picking up a few on the second hand market ? Given the different layout e...Jump to post
QF A380 VH-OQI is on its way from VCV to LAX. This is the last QF A380 to leave VCV and rejoin the fleet (excluding the ill-fated OQE and OQF). QF6023 from Victorville to Los Angeles https://fr24.com/QFA6023/2efe2e3a Does anyone think QF will regret getting rid of both or at least 1 of these frames...Jump to post
That's correct, it would be a separate crew doing those turns. But the same crew from SCL would have continued to SYD. I'd presume that the return flight would directly go from SYD to SCL with AKL still closed for internationals until tomorrow morning There were a lot of diversions last night in AK...Jump to post
LAN801 diverted to WLG, but then continued to SYD a few hours later. Would that have been flown by the same crew that flew the 12 hour SCL-WLG flight? I’d have figured normally a separate crew flies the AKL-SYD-AKL legs, but obviously they wouldn’t have been in WLG. That's correct, it would be a se...Jump to post
Something is clearly wrong in AKL. Every domestic flight to AKL just turned around. Why would NZ9 have done a few loop-de-loops near Auckland instead of going straight to CHC? It seems they may have actually touched down, then perhaps held to asses damage before continuing. Could be the case. It seems a lot of flights have done holding patterns for a while. NZ192 ADL-AKL held for ...Jump to post

Looks like the last flight to land was D7 at 1731. NZ9 went to CHC? although looks like it did a go around? NZ124 landed about 10mins after the D7 flight so that seems to be the last to have landed. The NZ9 got as low as about 500ft from the ground attempting to land in AKL before diverting. Wonder...Jump to post

Poor weather in Auckland is making a lot of flights divert to CHC and WLG just now. The internationals seem to be diverting to CHC and domestic flights to WLG. Would have been cool seeing more of the widebody aircraft going to WLG but understandable they're notJump to post
Whether SQ were able to make it work without the subsidies, no one will know as yes they most likely won't return, well not for a few more years at least. I think it was a good testament to them that they went from a regional 777 to the long haul configured A350 just prior to covid and they increas...Jump to post

Would the x10 A380 be able to cover SYD-LAX/LHR/DFW and MEL-LAX/DFW? No, SYD will remain B789 with MEL-DFW now operating doesn’t warrant A380 equipment on the route. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The above would need 11 to run all daily. I agree DFW probably won’t see the A380 again with MEL n...Jump to post
For Qantas when they get more 380s back into service they will be in a better position to open new routes. If all of the MEL LAX flying is all switched to 380 it will free up two 787s. So with the other 3 787s coming from Boeing it's equivalent of 5 787s joining the fleet this year. Perhaps DFW cou...Jump to post
On QFs A321XLRs, is there any view on whether these might see a presence in NZ for long distance routes? Are any of them high yield enough to compete with current options? QF fly to WLG via MEL and SYD only. Sorry if I was confusing but I was meaning a BNE to WLG tag with EK (even if not daily) as currently Air NZ are the only ones who fly it that route. The reality is that SQ could not make WLG work despite the airport subsidies. Can't see EK attempting it in the forseeable future. What makes you think it didnt work? Probably a simple answer to this question but here it goes anyway. Looking at booking a trip from Sydney to Charleston, SC later in the year on Qantas - my wife has $1900 in travel credits. How are the flights on QF website nearly $3000 but on Expedia the same flights are just over $2000. Also, it'...Jump to post
A proper regional rail service in NZ could have worked if they got onto that game many years ago and could well work as you note between those airports/cities. Runway extension for WLG is probably a no-go. Otherwise I think they're just ticking along with the other changes. In the 2040 plan the runway was listed a potential, but not part of the plan. Jetstar has been pretty stagnant with their A320 operation in the NZ market for 5 + years. They don't see it as any growth potential here unlike Air NZ. Some QF Link Q400s or E190s would probably be better suited, than JQ's 180 seater A320s that have to run min frequencies. From what I gather QR can add PER-ADL or any other regional city in Australia via SYD/MEL/BNE/PER, I don’t think a Tasman leg cuts it, it would use up landing rights still in the main Australian cities and effectively halve the capacity on the city it’s tagged to if that make sense.
