Re: Lion Air 737MAX8 Crashed Jakarta to Pangal Pinang

The radar data will not help answering those questions. The data is way to inaccurate with a low sample rate. The radar data most certainly will provide accurate ground speeds The radar data will also be very likely to show if there was an attempt to turn before the descent. Over seven minutes of t...

Re: Lion Air 737MAX8 Crashed Jakarta to Pangal Pinang

What I find even more frustrating is that the airport is sitting on its radar recordings of the flight (which they almost certainly have). Thus discussion goes on here and elsewhere hypothesizing what the speed of the aircraft was, whether or not it was hand flown, whether it was in the process of ...

1) is anybody aware of any declaration/remark made by the pilot of the sunday (Bali-Jakarta) flight? I'm astonished that they've been talking about that crucial flight for a week without making public anything from the crew. Why do they need to be made public? 2) reading last hours report: SAR and ...

Re: RUMOR: LH considering order of up to 15 A380 Plus

Update regarding the new livery painting job: Info from another forum in Germany is that D-AIMD has left FRA today to CAN as LH 9861 for C-check and, likely, painting into new livery... This information is not quite correct. MD left yesterday (monday) and it departed MUC, not FRA. C-Check and Paint...

Re: A Hifly Airbus 380 landed on OSL today

The flight has had to get special clearance to operate from the airport as the runway isn't really wide enough . The engines on the Airbus 380 hangs outside the runway. The airport did extra checks of the runway before and after landing. The runways in OSL are wide enough for the A380. The outer en...

A call from the chief pilot? This would be a company with a questionable safety management. A call from the safety pilot would be more appropriate.

Re: A380 wake turbulence sends Business jet into 10,000ft dive, causes engines to flameout

Wake turbulence at cruise altitude is quite special. I once experienced a sudden roll up to 30° right bank. The roll rate was impressive, almost instantly. The wake was produced by an A330. I was sitting in an A380. Conclusion: Even super aircraft get tossed around by wakes. I fly often in trails of...
