If AMS allowed a free trade of slots like the UK does then they would be allocated to where airlines felt was most profitable to them, but who is to say that isn't with five or more airlines serving AMS-CPH? DXB-DUS-JFK would be a possibility too of course but I think Hamburg is more promising, especially because there is less competition and no other huge Airports in the catchment. Wouldn't Budapest be in the catchment area to DUS? (30 min train ride?) The Hungarian government, I believe, even advocat...
