Looks like someone else is looking for a deal at ORH, too.

I'm in that video (not saying who). I think it will do well - IF they cqn get it to return on time. If I don't end up getting into ORH until 1am every evening I won't be taking it. That Fire Engine on the left - I think it throws out more smoke than any fire would! It's been a bit of a mixed bag so...Jump to post
The airport never really caught on. Epcot was always in the plans, but the plans themselves were very fluid at the time. While never really talked about, I think the big fear with the STOL port was that there would be too much risk of an incident which would cause lots of bad publicity. While it too...Jump to post
If you were in the terminal Thursday morning, you were involved in at least one interview or video recording, if not several. I think there was more press than passengers!
But 1:08am - ouch! That is not good when the first three days are consistently late.

You used to be able to drive on it for a while. They had tested out this idea using rumble strips that would supposedly play the tune of "when you wish upon a star", but it didn't really work. The airfield was not well placed, and I think they realized some kind of aviation incident would ...Jump to post
Keep in mind that from PVD you can take the train very easily into NYC, while from BDL you have to make a connection. They are going to start a shuttle between Springfield and New Haven, which will allow a connection to NYC and may put a serious dent in UA's EWR flights.Jump to post
From today's Telegram - Cat III supposedly has nothing to do with American starting service to ORH.
http://www.telegram.com/news/20180411/w ... es-flights
Access is a real issue. BOS, PVD, MHT, all have spent billions over he last decade improving airport access. You may not mind city streets and GPS but most people do. Well said. I would also note this is the same issue HVN also faces. Not really the same. HVN lacks direct access to a major highway,...Jump to post
Looks like it is American. Will be interesting to see how this does for Worcester now that they have Cat III. http://www.telegram.com/news/20180409/american-airlines-will-fly-out-of-worcester-regional-airport. Doesn't give the time of the flights. It was quoted in your link: "Flights will be s...Jump to post

Has to be DL to DTW if you ask me.... unless they want to bark up B6's tree to JFK? I wouldn't be surprised if AA or DL decided to fly ORH to LGA. It would still give them some connecting flights, but strategically they would try and capitalize on the business market between the Boston west suburbs...Jump to post
If its a major airline like described in the article I would guess United Express if it's a small airline, could Cape Air be a possibility? Good for ORH though, it's been growing pretty well recently. I hope its more than Cape air, too small of an operation to make a difference in the airports attr...Jump to post
Just a point of clarification, Website infers being on the World Wide Web, which exists on teh Internet, but the Internet itself is more than just www. Many airlines had presences that were not websites, often on online services such as Prodigy, Compuserve or AOL. Are we asking what was the first ai...Jump to post
The airplane manufacturers want passengers to like their planes - enough to prefer them and thus drive airlines to purchase their products. Airline son teh other hand are simply looking to maximize revenue and want passengers to be as plane model agnostic as they can, so they can use whatever fits b...Jump to post
My brother just called - they returned today on the DY flight from Guadaloupe to Providence. They tried to land at PVD but couldn't, couldn't land at Boston, so are now sitting on the ground at BDL waiting for immigration to be able top process them. They are working on a bus to get them all back to...Jump to post
I know airlines target business travelers, but I think the BHX market really needs to work on increasing the tourist base. No one on the US side ever thinks of Birmingham, and I think a good advertising program on Birmingham and the region would do a lot to bring in more passengers.Jump to post
I think one error is that air travel may NOT continue to grow. Personally I don't think we are going to see huge increases in air travel as airlines continue to target an ever increasingly specific market - the frequent, big spend business traveler. As in many cases air travel is something of an oli...Jump to post
I don't know. Unlike dvincent I AM old enough to remember the old terminal and all the flights Worcester used to have (thanks for making me feel so old!). Worcester never really had a problem with enough passengers - the flights I used to take were often pretty full. The problem was cancellations - ...Jump to post
The extremely early departure/late arrival may be a bit of a detriment, but if they keep the fares somewhat low, I think it will do really well. I live in the Worcester area. It costs me on average $80 to $100 or more to get to Logan and back when you factor in parking, gas, and tolls. And it takes ...Jump to post
Flight from JFK to ORH starts the 3rd, again crazy $24 one way!, first flight from ORH is the 4th. Plane looks like it will overnight here. Leaves at 6:30 AM, which is a bit early for my tastes, but would basically allow a full day in NYC without having to stay overnight. If they could keep those $2...Jump to post
Wow - great photos - thanks!
OK, I think that that must have been while they were constructing the new B concourse. If you check out Historicaerials.com and look at the 1971 aerial view (unfortunately you cant make a direct link to that view) you can see how the old concourse looked.
Looking at that terminal map... I know that pre-1974 or 5 what is now terminal B was more likle terminal C, except much smaller. But didn't it have piers jutting out like terminal C did? Or is this just some interim layout. That is going back to my early childhood so I may be mixing up memories. I r...Jump to post
Am I the only person who gets bothered by this "bribery" culture? I know where I work, and in many other places, that such a thing is against ethics as it is considered a "bribe" for services. Do you also get a gift for the check-in counter? The hotel clerk? The cashier at the st...Jump to post
Fundamental shift in air travel. This one will be big. It will take a while to get of f the ground, as I think they need to get big enough fast, but I see a huge change in the air travel market. This will really start appealing to the Travelocities and Google Flights and Kayaks and other online sour...Jump to post
The "official" Boeing video would pop up for me on Youtube.com EVERY time, UNTIL the one time I want it and now I can't find it! But here is someone else who posted it. I just wish there was a way to know these flights in advance. I love to travel and would love to be able to take last minute short trips. But I can't do flights more than an hour or so in standard width seats when you have an absolutely full plane. If I knew that there was a very high chance of at l...Jump to post
Im curious as to why it is so popular on this forum that AS have an East Coast hub? Because like most of the general public many here are desperate to have another realistic option to the big three which continue to devolve. Most people can pretty plainly see that the key to improving our airlines ...Jump to post
Speaking of the D gates, does anybody happen to have any photos of the area back when it was considered Terminal D? I remember not long ago when you could see where counters used to be downstairs near where the Terminal C Logan Express pickup is. How did passengers access gates from that area? Depe...Jump to post
Hold on a minute - you're comparing the MBTA (which is our commuter rail network) to Atlanta's MARTA which is a subway. That's not a fair comparison. Why not compare the T to MARTA? The T starts running at 5:30-5:45 every morning, with slower frequency on weekends. The Atlanta metro area is much la...Jump to post
Keep in mind that the original discussion about transit revolved around early morning departures (and I will add - late evening arrivals), I live on the Worcester line. You can't take the MBTA for a flight out of Logan at 8am?! Ummm, where are you coming from. The T starts running at 5:45am. If you factor being there an hour early at 7am what's the problem? There's only 1 international flight that might be an issue and that's BA's BOS-LHR at 8am. But domestic woul...Jump to post

I am glad they are making an effort to give attention to the economy passenger, and hopefully that does not get lost in all of this. the problem I think is with how Delta presents this, and I am hoping this is more a factor of a runaway marketing department than it is with company philosophy. I am sure this has been discussed in another thread, but would it be [possible for QF to basically contract out the aircraft to a partner, say AA, who could then either operate it themselves, or contract the flying to QF even, for a flight to JFK or MIA? Agreed it is a lot of lift, but it might be m...Jump to post
Did I miss the formal announcement of B6 entering ORH-JFK? I think part of the reality is that while we all love direct flights, and business flyers supposedly crave direct flights, most of the time they end connecting because it is cheaper. Throw in larger planes, especially if you can get a wide-body in there, and sometimes that's enough to make up for th...Jump to post
I'll give this one a lot more of a chance of success than most others. They at least are identifying an under served market. There may be more people clamoring for low cost air fare, but there are an awful lot of airlines operating in that arena. Right now there are very few airlines offering a dece...Jump to post
The simple reason why MHT never gets off the ground, and rail service to NH never gets off the ground, is that NH residents, by and large, really want little to do with Massachusetts. Here's what I see about BDL - If you look at it purely from a map perspective it looks like it is in the middle of nowhere. But when you think about the market around it - it is a pretty easy drive from a significant portion of the very affluent southern CT market. A lot easier than trying to drive ...Jump to post
