The media has become as sensational in reporting things that the National Enquirer ought to be considered a legitimate news source any more. A few months ago an AirTran DC9 going ATL-CAK had to return to ATL with smoke in the cabin. Well, naturally, one of the reporters for the FOX affilliate in CLE...

Phase III

Personally, I think Phase III would be a waste of money. I think the city of CLE wants to tear down the IX Center more to draw business to the Convention Center (and give them an excuse to build a new one) that to build another runway. In my view, a 3rd runway isn't needed-and by the way, Concourse ...

Runway length is NOT the reason UA pulled out of CLE The big reasons are ORD and IAD....they simply no longer needed a hub in CLE...the other two more than filled their needs.

Unfortunately, Go Delta, CO does not have a plethera of widebodies like the big 4, and must use those widebodies in the most advantageous routes it can. There is not Gate D-1 yet. The reason-because LSG Catering is in the way. Plans are to tear down LSG's catering facility so that planes can come out of D Concurse from both ends. RE: I'm Flying On Continental's 757 CLE-LGW Saturday

The Usual 2-day routing of the 757-200 that goes CLE-LGW us normally something like this: Europe destination to EWR, flight 277 EWRCLE, flight 66 CLE-LGW, then the next day, flight 67 LGW-CLE, flight 280 CLE-EWR, then EWR to either Europe or sometimes into Florida. RE: I'm Flying On Continental's 757 CLE-LGW Saturday

The 757 easily makes the CLE-LGW run. On about 5 occasions since the inception of the service, the LGW-CLE portion has had to divert to places like BOS, YYZ, YUL, because very high headwinds slowed down the aircraft, and emptied out the fuel tanks. The 767-200, which only holds 2 more total customer...

Back in the late 80's, early 90's, CO had jet flights from Cleveland to Lansing, Saginaw and Flint subsidized-I don't remember if it was by those respective cites, or by the corporations in those 3 Michigan cities, but they were routes subsidized for 2 years...after the subsidy ran out, CO switched ...

CO currently has no plans for adding the 737-600 to the fleet. In fact, Gordon and Greg have indicated that the leases on the 737-500's will probably not be picked up when it's time to renew them. They'll be replaced by 737-800's and -900's.

I can't agree with you on the reasoning for pulling out of those four cities, Markus. I think #1, COEX doesn't think it makes sense to run RJ's in those markets in the long term, same with CAK, and that's one reason why they closed them. CAK was closed for that reason, and for ATC reasons, since CAK...
