First there are ICAO codes and SITA codes! In the States they are almost the same! Like SFO id the SITA code for San Francisco and KSFO is the ICAO code! In Europe it´s different and more difficult, like everything in Europe! For example the ICAO code for Amsterdam Schipol is EHAM, and the SITA code...Jump to post
Hi! I´m also a smoker! I smoke in the airplane, when we are on the ground, for a turn around! Sometimes I also smoke in the cockpit during flight! We just switch the reciculation fan off! I like it! So go aheaf and keep smoking! ( rach di nieda!!) Viele Grüße, Benjamin! (Arbeite auch bald in Wien)Jump to post
Like Ryu2 said, when flying on the equator or a line of longitude, there is no change in your heading, because in both cases the great circle (orthodrome) is the same as the loxodrome. The difference between the course of the beginning and the end course on a orthodrome is called convergency or conve...Jump to post
After 400 feet you can switch it on! You take off in a heading, T/O mode! Then the Vnav mode can either control speed or given altitudes in the FMS! For example. when in a descend to a specific point, lets call it ARTIP (that´s a IAF into Schipol AMS, Where you have to be at FL100 or below). You wri...Jump to post
good statement lainhol! It´s true, that you can get a job in Europe with as less as 300 hours TT, but the recruitment is very, very, very hard!!!!! Because there are so many people with CPL/IFR!! The airline can chose the very "best"! I took all my flight training in California and after that I took...Jump to post
The Lear 31a I flew had a maximum service ceiling of 51000 feet, so depending on pressure it is a maximum of FL510! We took it only once up to FL510, but that´s not that much fun! You really should have a good reason of flying that high! Usually we flew it at FL470/460. But now I miss it flying all ...Jump to post
HI! For Austria there is a good reason for the registration! In german you don´t say Austria! It´s called Österreich. So I live in Österreich! So now, since in other languages there are no Ö,Ä, or Ü, you can also write instead of Ä AE for Ü UE and for Ö OE! See for Austria or in Österreich there´s a...Jump to post
Hi guys! I´m Benjamin, and I´m flying for KLMalps/Air Alps Aviation in Austria! And well, we have the same proplems like Air Engiadina! We just stopped last week the flight from Innsbruck INN to Vienna VIE! And we stopped all flights out of Klagenfurt exept to Zurich. But we only fly it once a day, ...Jump to post
The Fokker F-50 also has one tiller on the captains side and one on the copilots!Jump to post
Hi! Fire Protection and Overheat Detection: General: Fire protection, consisting of fire detection, warning and extinguishing, is provided by two independent systems: one for the LH/RH engines each. Each system includes electrical fire detection and extinguishing cicuits, fully integrated through wa...Jump to post
It depends for wich company! I know a company wich is flying Fokker 27/50 and Lockheed Electra, and they come home almost every day! But they fly always at night! And there are other company´s wich fly 747´s worldwide. They are on duty for 10 days and than they have 10 days off. In those 10 days, th...Jump to post
The copilot is the one who makes all the work! No, but we are a team in the cockpit. We are working with SOP´s where everyone has his work! There are PF pilot flying and PNF pilot not flying. That´s all! One leg the captain is PNF and one leg the copilot. Only on ground the captain always has the co...Jump to post
Can you talk german, Oldman?
It´s a little mixed up. Here´s the correct version:
Ich nehme an, daß Sie ein wenig verwirrt sind, mein Freund!
Instead of daß you can write also dass!
Penso che, sei un po stupido, il mio amigo!
That´s the italian version! But my italian is not that good!
you are right! On our emergency drill we have in that case you set the altitude on the altitude selector to 10000 feet and you bring the conditionlevers full forward to maximum!! That means the aircraft is getting really loud, but it can descend at a very high rate, because the propellers are produc...Jump to post
On most aircrafts you can turn the noseweel with the rudder pedals a little! on the Dornier 328 it´s 10 degrees to either side. The Learjet 31a I flew had no tiller, but his nosewheel steering was powered by hydraulic power, and it was almost impossible to taxi the aircraft smoth! When you bring up ...Jump to post
Hi Jetpilot! Sorry, when I was a little angry about you, but I just had a bad day! All in all, I think that you are a nice guy, and your posts are really funny to read! Sorry I couldn´t take it up with you, but in english it´s not that easy to find the right words. What is everybody else thinking ab...Jump to post
You want to know what the pilot looks for? Well, that depends on what you are doing or on how you do it. If you fly with autopilot off or with it on or if you fly an CATII app,. Usually you get radar vectors to the ILS. So you are on the Heading Mode on the flight director. If you get the final inte...Jump to post
Aerokid, you mixed something up! You don´t fly the ILS with an RMI! The RMI has 2 needles 1 for ADF 1 for VOR and its almost the same as an normal ADF inicator just it has the VOR needle wich acts the same like the ADF needle just points to the station and the whole heading part is turning like on t...Jump to post
The early jets flew from navaid to navaid, and if the flew on an "selfmade" track they had to plot their position! Here in Europe, at least in Austria and Germany, you still have to learn plotting when you take your ATPL. On long range flights they had an IRS. Today we don´t have an IRS but an INS! ...Jump to post

Well, actually the De-icing liquid doesnt melt the ice! That´s the hot water! So first or at the same time, depends, you spray hot water on the airplane and then the liquid mostly Hoest 1704 type1 comse on! The liquid is over the whole surface now! And it stays there and prevents other ice to cover ...Jump to post
I had the same problem! I liked aerobatics and stuff, as a passenger, but as I flew by myself it was different! And stalls have been just awfull! But after some time you like them even spins! You get to love them! I do!! Do some aerobatics with a good pilot in a good plane, just as a passenger! And ...Jump to post
Well, Mcomess that´s not all corect, you said there. On High altitude charts there are no MEA printed down. That wouldn´t make sence, since you already very high, because here in Europe the high altitude charts start at FL 240. But it´s from country to country different! So if your are using an high...Jump to post
Hi WorldTraveller! No, we are not flying to DUS now, but maybe in future, when my company continues to operate. I´m based in KLU and we fly to ZRH early in the morning and in the evening. They want to cancel the flights in between and fly to some other destination in Germany. Maybe to DUS! Well you ...Jump to post
Yeah, The Dornier Jet but also the Turbo prop rocks!! I fly on both the 328 prop and jet! It´s a common type rating. So you have to make the simulator check not on both airplanes. You change every check, wich is every 6 months! Go to Europe! There are some of the Dornier Jets! Sincerly, Benjamin!Jump to post
Ok! Maybe I didn´t remember correctly! I just remember that there was something about instructing! Sorry, I don´t doubt, that you are a Airlinepilot! Just was in a bad mood yesterday, because my company is not doing that good! No money! They don´t pay me (or too late), but I´m still flying off my as...Jump to post
Nice to hear that somebody else shares my opinion that pilots are sometimes like little kids! That´s all I said and all of a sudden sombody seems to be angry at me! I´m also a little kid! I like watching airplanes like a kid! Some other pilots though think I´m crazy, when I´m impressed when a 747 dr...Jump to post
