RE: Canon 17-40mm Or Sigma 150-500mm?

Instead of the Canon 17-40 (which I believe is a F4 lens without stabilizer), I would recommend the Sigma EX 17-50/2.8 with OS. I've just bought this one to replace the Canon EF-S 17-55/2.8 <acron...

RE: Rumor: Canon 100-400 Will Be Replaced Next Year

Great news and long awaited. My 100-400 has served me faithfully for 8 years now, and only recently been surpassed in quality by my new 70-200L/4 IS, so a replacement would be very welcome.

CNN Not Able To Pay For Picture Use...? (Airblue)

Just received a request from CNN for the use of an Airblue photo, but they say "they are not able to pay for it".
Have we reached the point that, due to so many eager photogs willing to give their photos away for free, the top media companies can get away with being so cheap?

First feedback from the Canon service: it might have to do with the focus sensitivity which is a specific 7D feature and mainly intended for macro photography, and many users (apparently including myself) have this function activated without knowing it.

I finally brought the 7D in for service, and even though they hadn't encountered similar problems before, they were not too surprised, as they said that when they first calibrated my 7D in October, Canon hadn't really provided the proper software for it... so this might be the cause. 7D Focussing Problems

A question to the fellow 7D users: Since I got my 7D half a year ago, I haven't been too happy with its autofocus. Yes it's fast and silent, but often too sensitive and what's worse, when it comes to aviation photography, regularly not precise. With my previous 10D and 30D I had never experienced th...

I've had mine recalibrated to my new camera but to be honest, I don't see much of a difference. However the lens is 7 years old and a bit worn.
I think we're just getting more used to high quality images so we tend to believe that our equipment is not on top of things anymore.

The parking lot is located higher than the airport.
I don't thin you'd need the 100-400 in ASE - except maybe for some shots of aircraft on approach in the valley it could be useful.
The shot above was around 25mm.
