RE: New Fence Going Up At LHR

This combination of security/access hassles and behaviour of 'enthusiasts' is a big part of why I shifted from shooting aircraft to boats. So many trips to the airport turned into just hunting for a place I could get a shot. Any shot. Opportunities for getting creative/different images are fast disa...

There is another headline that could be used with the DXO review:

"The highest rated APS-C sensor from Canon"

So, if you're a Canon user, you shouldn't be disappointed.

Cheers,

Colin

I think the 300 is sharper, but a 500 will be sharper than a 300+ 1.4 Also the focus will be slower with a 1.4 attached, But to be honest, I would say sharpness is your least concern with either of these lenses - both are uber-sharp, amongst the sharpest lenses Canon make - to differentiate them is ...

Without seeing exactly what Embraer asked for, its not possible to make a absolute statements, but from what the OP says the image is required by Embraer for Embraer's use, but with no restrictions on this use. If the image is sold to Embraer for their use, it can not be sold on. That's fairly norma...

Sharpening Too Soft and Grainy - What To Do?

Ah that makes more sense. The high pass filter can be an effective sharpening tool but to work well you need to use layer masks or overlay blends - high pass on its own is not normally selective enough, and may be making the noise more obvious.

I'm assuming by the low pass filter you mean gaussian blur (that's what its called now in Photoshop). I guess the clue is in the name. Tough choice. I'd say the 70-200 with the 1.4 is as good as the 100-400 - the mk3 convertor might be better still. So just how important is the extra reach of the 400?
