I think that all this talk of the pilots NOT wanting to give back is a bit over blown. I have spoken to a number of pilots and Mechanics. The main issue is they do not want to give back without a formula for the pay to return to contract levels WHEN the company is back in good fincial health. I don'...Jump to post
Great TR SFOintern U have inspired me to write down my trips. do you collect the nose #'s to look up in Unimatic?
I would Like to see more Int'l carriers in PHL
PHL FRA LH Daily they cut way back on frequency
I was hoping that if the UA US merger went through more Star Alliance carriers would have come to PHL to take advantage of the new UA hub.
Ciro has the best post I've seen in here. If anybody thinks that UA is going bust they are drinking something! Load factors are going up steadily and advance bookings for the summer are good. The only reason the stock is in the tank is the outstanding labor contracts once they are signed, and they w...Jump to post
Does anyone know what will replace the NINE on the PHL route. Ive been seeing more Canadian 737-200's but I hope we get A319's. I guess I'll find out when I get to work today. I Worked AC last night. Watched as we pushed it. I never realized it was the last flight I would work with a DC-9.
Travellin Man I'm sorry but did you read the entire article. Or just the spin that the author places at the top of the piece? The IAM 141M and the IAM that represents the CSR's are not the problem here. The Pilots contract the high cost of UA operation and a reliance on travel from an area of the co...Jump to post
This is a bit off topic but in referance to Nate's comment about the Unions killing UA. The ALPA has done much more damage than the IAM has. IAM members haven't had a raise since 1996. Management, and Pilots and FA's all got their peice of the pie. Now management's stalling and this crisis have deni...Jump to post
I've been on every Boeing type UA owns.
Talking to a friend at NWAirlink. I found that Airbus is wider by several inches. which leads me back to my original question. Why doesn't Boeing increase the beam? I have found that pax do favor the A320 family for comfort and the bin space is huge at least on UA. Boeing seems to be making the 73's...Jump to post
Well I'm back. For obvious reasons this was not on my priority list for a while. The thought I had was why not make a narrowbody aircraft say just eight inches wider in beam. I can't imagine this would effect drag that much would it? If a plane the size of a 737 was that much wider I would think you...Jump to post
This may seem silly, but why doesn't Boeing or Airbus increasae the beam of a narrow body airplanes? I think it would allow for more cargo space, more seat comfort and larger overhead-bin space. Plus a larger wingbox would accomodate more fuel for greater range. Yet all narrow bodies seem it be the ...Jump to post
Until UsAir finishes off their fleet of all airbus, UA IS the largest operator of Airbuses in North America. We add a new one every month. Most of those new ones pass through PHL before they are a month old. I haven't seen a 727 in Philly in six months, except for a divertion from ORD to LGA. UA's f...Jump to post
No pics yet but let me see if I can descibe them. First of all the wheels are fixed to go side to side the jetway is so low the wheels are next to the walkway. this is so the jetway can roll in an arc in and out of the envelope. A bit farther out on the jetway the walkway gets larger, in reverse of ...Jump to post
I think it is this months Airliners magazine has pictures of the new Hawaiian 717 with the extra internal fuel tanks in the passenger cabin. they fly nonstop from Long Beach to Honolulu.Jump to post
The new F terminal In PHL is all USAirways Express almost all the gates have jetways for aricraft as small as the CRJ to a 737. They are neat to see. Also PHL will be all UAX to IAD. We previosly has two true UA flights a day. I think UA is cutiing service dramatically and using the UAX carriers in ...Jump to post
I was just on a A320 in PHL manufactred in OCT 2000 and the carpet was coming up under the firdt row in F class. Not something the Passenger would notice but not something that gives the employee cconfidence int he craftsmenship of the new decor. I hope it works I like it but im a bit apprehensive.Jump to post
KONAB777, If you like A320's and 319's you should come to Philly. That's practically all we have anymore. At least to the West Coast and DEN. ORD is still old Thunder Guppy's. Anyway I like the new interior as well, but a few FA's I 've talked to say it gets shows the dirt very quickly. I hope that ...Jump to post
Some of these comparisons are like comparing apples to oranges. WN and the discount carriers should not be compared to a full service carrier. They simply do not even try to do what the full service carriers do. I mentioned it before Southwest doesn't check connection bags. Yet it gets rated with th...Jump to post
Overrated: Southwest I am constantly amazed at how many people love SW. I find it amusing that people would object to the zone boarding on UAShuttle and have little problem being herded on and off SouthWest. I also find it funny that Southwest ranks so low in lost baggage complaints. Of coarse they ...Jump to post
