This is just being dragged out more and more now and the employees are facing an even longer wait for any kind of payout, never mind that they won't receive a salary for May. First the labour court ruled that the retrenchment process cannot go ahead without a business plan. https://www.enca.com/news...Jump to post

Business rescue is soon going to be the only activity in the local airline industry at this rate. First SAA, then SA Express was liquidated last week, now Comair which operates Kulula and the local BA franchise has applied for business rescue. https://www.fin24.com/Companies/Industrial/kululacom-own...Jump to post
I've heard people say that SAA's problems started when Coleman Andrews started working at SA and sold SAA's aircraft and leased them back from a company he had close ties to. Was he corrupt? see above Was he unpopular with staff? Yes. Understatement of the year but he set the tone for pretty much e...Jump to post

There would be some more A339 as well as A359 available on second-hand market. Truly a nightmare for Airbus. They also sub-lease two A359s to South African. They could be coming back. some local reports on TV yesterday.
South African Airways has decided to layoff its entire 4700 staffs in a bid to win again the govermental support to prevent the airline from falling off. Grammar Nazis drive me insane, Especially when they are incorrect. Slow is an adverb, just like slowly. Slow can also be an adjective. People driving slow on the interstates and not getting to the right hand side. There it is right there, and in numerous other posts in this thread. My position in my company, one of the biggest multinationals in the world, was made redundant at the end of October 2019. My dad was a Ford man most of his life but in one moment of madness he selected a Nissan Skyline 2 litre as a company car. Looks stunning. I was on the last MAX flight in South Africa before the grounding (BA6240, 10 March 2019 PLZ-JNB) It's a two engine 720. :rotfl: Funny, but true. Pros: as "PWMRamper' wrote, DL is one of the few to fly the 777 on a 3-3-3 configuration. Well I booked DL yesterday and told the travel agent I want an aisle seat which was on the confirmation she sent me but she said the airline can still change it.
I will have to keep an eye on the clock and check in right on 24 hours and see what happens.
Thanks for all the tips!
It depends on how big you are and what seat you actually get ("preferred" seats are not available to average people until 24 hours before departure, and these include the seats with more legroom).
