Hi Folks, At the end of this week I will fly to Moscow on Aeroflot. How is Aeroflot doing lately ? I heard they are trying hard to improve but have no experience on them. Lets not talk about the corporate image of Aeroflot, we all know it is not exactly what we call an A-Brand ... How would you rate...Jump to post
Not many Fokker engineers around here ? Can any one forward my question to a US, AA or other Fokker users specialist e.g engineering, fleetmangement, marketing etc. ?
Scottb : Right now, the winners of a hypothetical breakup of US Airways would be the airlines in the best financial condition. ....... UAL has too many problems, and Continental and Northwest are too highly leveraged. Is NWA highly leveraged ? I saw a list in Airline World that they were the ...Jump to post

For 757 /737 and DC9 luggage bin extensions have been done with various airlines. Much to the happyness of millions of passengers & crew members. Does anyone know if such an option exists for F70/F100 aircraft. there should be a market for it ... AA, US, KLM and many other will fly the aircraft on h...Jump to post
Private/government owners Some spend scandalous amounts of (tax) money into luxury while in their native country people starve .... In my opinion Volare - KLM cooperation could be successful. Volare could bet on two horses, improving it's domestic services and make SPL its jump station into the US. Combining KLM and Volare customer bases in Italy and with NWA in the US could electrify sales. Lot's of Americans would be flying Vo...Jump to post
Virgin Atlantic and British Airways plan to launch a biometrics trial that could see up to 2,000 people zip through immigration at London's Heathrow Airport. I saw it at AMS fully operational Tuesday coming from a LHR flight. What about : - firing everyone and rehire under new contracts, - stop buying great and expensive aircraft, - cut routes that are only prestigious, - chase away all politicians and the people they gave glamour jobs at Olympic, - teach all romantic, nostalgic and dreaming Olympic Fans some basic econo...Jump to post
Ryefly, would be nice, but I'm afraid no alliance is interested in the complete US Airways, too much overlap. Perhaps it isn't the management or motivation of the employees but just being incompatible. Then it is better for the company/employees to break up in more alliance compatible units. Bravely...Jump to post
Sorry if I ask stupid questions on this but If : - Charlotte -> United (Star) - Shuttle -> American (One world) - Philadelphia -> Northwest (Wings) - DCA -> Continental (Wings) - Pittsburgh -> Shut down. There was talking about new aircraft too ...
I heard it is working well, weights tons, consumes a lot of underfloor cargo space and costed (is costing) US Airways gold ... Nobody bought the (Sony) system after US Airways. The vendor stopped selling it ... This should tell something about the decision making process on US Airways.... <a href="h...Jump to post

A part of the plating came loose during flight (fibration) and was bowed by earodynamic force. It would be replaced this morning.
Passenger were rebooked /put in hotels nearby and leave tonight at 10.
There are worse places to have delay then an extra day in a nice hotel on Curaçao ..
Would it be an option for US Airways to break-up it self in 2-4 independent company's ? This would perhaps solve the problem of overlap they have now in teaming up with other airlines/alliances. In my opinion this is better than a long struggle for life with a devastating end with lots of lay-offs. ...Jump to post
Roger Mehtabrahman, this is how it works :
Boeingbus negotiates a price of e.g. 250 mln, writes a bill for 270 mln which is paid by the state.
After that Boeingbus transfers 20 mln to a swiss account of "helpfull" people in PIA / the government.
poor taxpayers ...
with extra large doors for oversized AMBITIONS.

I would rather fly an airline with old but very well maintained/updated/clean aircraft (NWAC) then one with new but neglected ones ...
I think they need an alliance / world wide network partners badly in order to fill there aircraft in a more profitable way Oneworld (AA), Star(UA), Sky Team(DL) and Wings (NWA and/or CO) each have overlap in the East Any of you hub/network experts , what would be the best / least damaging solution f...Jump to post

Perhaps the (rather arrogant) BA strategy to only focus on high revenue, business oriented passengers (a beautifull airline for beautifull passengers) has made a hard landing since mid '01. My opinion on PIA is based on observations I don't dare to put on the net and have nothing to do with inflight service.
BTW I have had very good service from NWA in-flight (WBC) & ground staff.
