Re: What’s next for Silver Airways?

I'd be surprised if they did much one-stop routing without significant O&D on both legs. With props it's not much faster than connecting at a hub and G4 is doing 4 weekly nonstop XNA-SFB this summer. I can't imagine there would be much demand for a BKG-HSV or TUL-SHV/LIT flight so it would be d...

Nope. It's been a while and I don't remember the numbers we had but we had plenty of speed.

The Citation X has a ton of buffer between stall and overspeed up high.

So if there's a flame-out or other cause for engine shutdown in flight they are just out of luck on that engine if they try to restart? If the speed were high enough, an airstart would be possible. But at lower speeds, you are right, no cross-bleed starts. I take it leaving with that valve inop is ...

Hope you enjoy added delays at LAX as it absorbs the jets that were using SMO. VNY and BUR won't see much additional traffic due to location. Re: Loose, Leaking or Missing Engine Oil Filler Cap

Most oil tanks have an anti siphon feature to hopefully lessen the chance of another total engine failure like the tristar incident. They still can lose oil so it is a big deal that the cap is properly installed. MD80 APU's oil caps have been improperly installed causing oil being sucked into the i...

Re: Older aircraft and uneven thrust level positions

In simple terms, nowadays FADEC does the adjusting for you to ensure the engines are producing the same thrust. This may result in uneven fuel flow between the engines. Even with FADEC you may have a little stagger to sync the engines. I'm flying near factory new aircraft right now with automatic e...

Re: Engine cooling on short hops

The engines I've flown have a max ITT before introducing fuel. I think on the AE3007 it was 200. If you're starting engines with temp above that you motor the engine until the temp is below 200 before introducing fuel. Oil temps are not a problem. Brake temps between short turns are a bigger issue.

I don't know about the 737, but on other engines you'll generally get a hot start if you introduce fuel too early. I think on the early turbojets I flew we needed 15% (maybe 20) before we could introduce fuel or open the condition lever.
