RE: How Often Do No-Flap Landings Occur?

The short answer is...not very often. In 35 years of professional flying with large jet aircraft, I have only had to land with no flaps/<acronym title="St. Petersburg (Leningrad) - Pulkovo (LED / ULLI), Russia">LED</acronym>'s...once. And yes, if the destination has a short runway, diversion is ofte...

Some Questions About Full Autoland

Countries do not specify autoland, aircraft do....in their specification.
Therefore, the statement that 'autoland is not available in Austraila'...is rubbish.
I've done many autolands in Australia, with L1011 equipment.
Fully approved.

I suspect the slight problem is, 474218, a few folks just don't have their ducks in a row, regarding the information about the L1011 type.

The phrase...'don't confuse me with facts, my mind is made up'....is the active scenario, in these circumstances.

CPCP also adds to the time required for aircraft heavy checks, and the older the airplane, generally, the longer it takes, as 474218 correctly points out. Don't fly a 767...however, I do fly an L1011 with 339 seats, and if an engine fails just after takeoff, we would jettison fuel, and return for landing.
Then, pax would be offloaded, and I would two-engine ferry the airplane to the maintenance base (usually) to have the engine changed/repaired.

I find it rather strange that a few folks who normally wouldn't know an L1011 from the back end of a bus...seem to 'know' so much about it.
