Hi,
I do not see any obvious grain in the second one, but now it looks dark, and there is still not a lot of contrast. The white looks more gray, even in the first photo. I think the basic issue is that the lighting was not in your favor.

Hi Dave,
I think a noise reduction program could help with the grain without hurting your detail significantly.

Jump to postDave,
The sky (especially at the top) and the dark side of the top wing look a bit grainy as well.

Jump to postAs I understand it, most rejection reasons still apply even if you are trying to be creative, unless, for example, the softness or darkness is by design, and even then it would be a judgement call. In this case, there does not appear to be any particular reason to make the shot soft or dark, so thos...
Jump to postHi, Thoughts on these would be appreciated. I would also be interested to know what the round objects (holes?) are in the top right section of the Jet Blue tail. Lightning strike? Thanks. Jump to postMalcolm, I agree with <acronym title="Portimao (PRM / LPPM), Portugal">PRM</acronym>'s comments. The darker areas and the sky also look a bit grainy to me. I also question the crop on the VS744. The left side is cropped to the edge of the nose, whereas the right side is cropped to the engine. That m...

Jump to postHi, Are there any threads out there discussing when equipment blocking parts of an aircraft is acceptable? I have seen some recent photos with obstructions, but according to the rejection reasons this is not allowed. I presume that there have been some clarifications/modifications to the requirement...
Jump to postHi Jid,
Thanks for the detailed feedback. I appreciate it.

Jid,
To help me improve my pre-screening, what would you say are the quality issues? Thanks.
Marty
Hi, This photo was rejected for grainy and quality: <a href="http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/20080810_MJG_KBOS_1.jpg" target=_blank>http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/r...ctions/big/20080810_MJG_KBOS_1.jpg</a> I can work on the noise, but I'd appreciate thoughts on what the other q...
Jump to postHi Rob, Looks pretty good to me. I think the exposure is okay. The biggest problem might be that most of the plane is shaded, and I don't know how much you can help that with editing. I'd definitely crop tighter if the quality does not suffer, and I also think it could stand to be sharpened a bit mo...
