They're underexposed. Use the levels function to brighten. Otherwise, quality is good. There's hope...
Ideally you want to improve exposure when you take the shot. What camera are you using?

Landing with the wind can be dangerous. A 40 mph tailwind means the aircraft is approaching 40mph faster than usual. Faster landings are less accurate. It's also more stress on the landing gear at touchdown.
Anybody aware of specific accidents caused by tailwind?

Two reasons:

-Tail shots should be taken from the side.

Good is quite relative. For less than a $1,000, the 75-300 <acronym title="Island Airlines (USA) and Eagle Air/Arnaflug (Iceland)">IS</acronym> is probably your best bet. Doubt the mkII will affect 10D or 300D prices. They're in totally different price ranges. Lots of people would still be willing to pay $1,500 for the 10D rather than $4,500 for the mkII.  Big grin

Continuous <acronym title="Air France">AF</acronym> would be most useful when the aircraft is coming straight towards you (or away from you). I would say switch to sports mode in those situations. For side shots one-shot <acronym title="Air France">AF</acronym> is probably good enough... Hisham.

Charging for extra weight is a common practice. Most aircraft can handle much more than 20 kgs/pax or whatever the limit is. As long as the extra weight is added to the gross weight of the aircraft, it's not a problem. They can always reject additional luggage when it surpasses MTOW.

I try to include the rwy as often as possible. You don't exactly need the time of day. You can use a map and figure out when the light is good for a given spot.

I guess you're right, it may not be the airline's fault. But there are a few facts that raise some questions:
* There's no way the pilots didn't know people were sitting in the aisle.
* No passenger list. Why?
* The airline was denied registration in Lebanon....

Resolution is too low, I can see the individual pixels. It's best to scan the negative. Otherwise, you need a fairly large print made. A 4X6 print won't do.

The 2X extender will reduce the aperture to F/11. Quality will be worse than with the 1.4X TC. Besides, do you really need an 800mm lens?

It's definitely not a "baddark". The problem is contrast. Avoid shooting when the sun is too high in the sky.

Tim,
Time to move to Av mode and use exposure compensation! I rarely let the camera decide on exposure for United aircraft; especially when the aircraft is so small in the frame.

I use it mostly to make clouds look more dramatic and to reduce glare on the fuselage. If you just want to darken the blue sky, photoshop will do the job. One problem is that polarizers eat a lot of light (I think up to 2 stops). It also won't have an effect if the sun is directly behind you. Shoot ...
