1)All Canon lenses have AF.
2)Any Canon lens works with the 300D.
3)depends how much you want to spend. The 18-55 and 75-300 are good lenses but are not Canon's best.

That's too bad because they're great shots. It is possible that you are locking autofocus too soon. Make sure you half press the shutter button right before you release the shutter. 10X zooms on DSLRs may not be your best option. Besides the lens alone will cost a $1,000. I suggest you buy 2 lenses that cover the whole range. The Canon 300D with a 75-300mm (4X zoom) will cost you around a $1000. You cn get a wide-angle later.
