I was there and saw the damage, it was the #4. Major damage to the cowling occurred and a hole was punched completely through into the intake area just forward of the fan blades. There was no visible damage to the fan blades but some engine damage may have been discovered later hence the engine chan...

Um......it's the 405 that borders the C-17A factory. Highly doubt it, we have only 25 of the -500s and they are a good fit for us, they should be around for some time. Some of our early -300s I believe are scheduled for retirement sometime during the next 2 to 3 years....but don't quote me on that as everything changes and retirement timetables alterd...
