Apple is too good at marketing (and brainwashing) to make any meaningful comparison.

I guess you have to talk about people/organizations who are bad while being inlaws, if you don't you have not much to talk about. Maybe also, as other have pointed out, that what defines an inlaw/outlaw is the law, which can be unfair, especially in the past.
