i know only about adria airways.
they use crjs, and are retiring its md-80 fleet with a-320s. and the company´s from slovenia, serving most cities from the capital ljubljana. that´s all i know.

i think that pia would choose airbus rather than boeing because the us-pakistani ties aren´t the friendliest.
although i could imagine the 777 put on long-haul service (us-services), i´d say pia goes for a mix of a-330s for asian services and some a-340s (perhaps -600?) for its longer routes.

a main problem is that the 764 was developed for the likes of continental and delta. i don´t think that an or anz order the 764 because of its lack of range. bus that decision relies heavily on sq. so i´d think they could order 777s or perhaps a-330s, if singapore decides to replace it a-310s with a...

that´s correct.
swissair is slated to receive the first a-340-600 after virgin receives in mid/third quarter 2002. after swissaire lufthansa will its first a-346 before the end of 2002.

i assume they got too expensive.
and perhaps they couldn´t get them full so they looked out for something smaller. in addition, the a-340s got a longer range.

they might have waited so long to announce this order because this saturday´s lufthansa´s 75th anniversary. lufthansa was established on the 6th of januarty 1926 in berlin. it might be for increased publicity that they have decided to announce this order when celebrating its anniversary.

the bombardier canadairjet is able to perform such a pushback on its on. my dad used to fly this plane for lufthansa and he told me that it´s able to do so. but i don´t think it has been used often. i only experienced it on some md-80 flights with american and aeromexico.

nwa has an outstanding order for a-330-300s to replace dc-10s, although that order could be transformed into an order for a-320-family aircraft.
in addition, nwa is believed to be seriously thinking about introducing the 757-300 on domestic-routes as dc-10 successor.
