Isreal pay into the broadcasting rights. Even Morocco took part once, because they payed. Luxembourg (a European state, even a winner in the past) do not pay their dues anymore, so they are not included. Monaco is another example. It's all financial and the voting is too political for my liking.Jump to post
London was basking in hot sunshine yesterday. My car picked yesterday as the day its air-conditioning packed up.Jump to post
I wasn't aware that front loading washing machines were not readily available in N America. I don't think that washing machines are that expensive in Europe. I know that in UK (about 6 months ago) I bought a new Creda front loader for £200. It does a good enough job. The spin speed is 1500 so the cl...Jump to post
I don't normally go along with superstitions, but this one seems to have some credibilty. In March my Aunt died age 80. Good age, but sad. In April my sisters father in law died. Aged 61 Too young. Two weeks ago My dear Mother died battling cancer. She was only sick for six weeks, and then she died....Jump to post
I live in London. I was on the net when I heard a huge clap of thunder. The lightening was so bright. The rain was pounding horizontally off my windows. I have seen worse, but that was pretty spectacular. My parking lot was flooded. Luckily my car survived. The wheels where submerged, but the water ...Jump to post
In my opinion, it's a load of claptrap. I have never walked under a ladder in my life. I still have a lot of bad luck. I have never done any of these superstitious things. Don't open an umberella in the house. It is supposed to bring bad luck. Hmmmm Don't place a pair of shoes on the table. Why not?...Jump to post

mx5_boy. lol, I understand, as I said I like the australian sense of humour a lot. You're quite right though, those back packers are a nuisance. Especially when they are on the London Underground. Those back packs are the size of Scotland. Neighbours is still dragging on over here. On two different ...Jump to post

Matt. I understand what you are saying, but a little compassion never did any harm. Whatever the man did, he had a family who will miss him. You don't have to know somebody personally to feel sorrow upon their passing.
I have never heard of you before Dale. RIP......
I'm not saying it should be banned all together. Just sectioned off so that non-smokers don't have to pollute their lungs with nicotine as well. I don't care what others do, as long as it doesn't effect me. I have never been in favour of a nanny state. I know I wrote BAN IT earlier. I was angry with...Jump to post
Funny you should mention this. Just last night I was in a Chinese restuarant. As the food was served four people were seated right next to us on the next table. The first thing they did was ALL light up their smokes. My food was clouded in smoke. How would they like it if I sprayed them with horse m...Jump to post
Iainhol. What are you saying? Your paragraph is a mystery to me.
In general, I agree with Starship. School doesn't teach you how to deal with the the barricades that life throws at you.
I haven't been to CR, but a friend of mine has just returned and she said it was great. Apart, that is from the insects. She was walking down the street (maybe is wasn't in a built up area) and she was shocked to see a tarrantula (sp) spider walking along the sidewalk minding its own business. She f...Jump to post
I hardly ever use my printer, but that's ok because everytime I switch my computer off the printer bursts into life for about 20 seconds. I assume it's cleaning itself or something?
One thing I have noticed with these contraptions is the ink. It doesn't last very long, does it?
The old Athens airport is a square marble building. Very un-organised and always has a lot of people sleeping on the floor. The observation deck however is a real gem. Very good views and in the summer (early morning) the climate is great. I have not been there for 7 years. I hope Athens airport has...Jump to post

Good points Brissie_Lions. The Davis Cup (as it stands at the moment) is really quite a drawn out affair. It's the luck of the draw where the ties take place too. Home and away teams are drawn. Whoever comes out of the hat first, gets to host the tie. GB has had their last FIVE ties at home. Their n...Jump to post
Avion, to be honest this is not a big surprise. Sampras and Agassi refused to represent their country on the grounds that the Davis Cup should b played every two years instead of annually. The powers that be said that will not happen, so the USA team was heavily depleated by their absense. I did thi...Jump to post

CstarU - Yep, you're right about that. But I checked up and Paper Lace did indeed release a song called "Bille, don't be a hero". It reached No1 in the charts here in UK. Maybe it wasn't released in USA. I should make it clear though I am definitely not a Paper Lace fan by any means. <img src=...Jump to post
