747-400 PAX Conversions To Freighter...how Many?

Just curious how many of these conversions have been done so far. Is there a reliable online source for a snapshot (or detailed info) of the specific airframes that have been converted? I've been an enthusiast for a long time (since late 70s) but I haven't been keeping running tabs on this subject.

RE: Pan Am's Last Boeing 707 Flight In 1980.

Interestingly, I am digitizing my spotting logs from 1980 at the moment and IAH was a overnight spotting trip I made in late Oct 1980. I have notes that N883PA was operating PA 24 <acronym title="Houston - Ge...

Royal - Subject came up Sunday night at dinner and if I'm not mistaken an aviation historical society in Orange County, CA will take possession of his aviation stuff. Not sure which specific society was referred to.

AirNikon Memorial Service Was Monday Jan 29th.

All - just wanted to tell anyone interested that AirNikon's memorial service was Monday in Riverside, CA. I was honored to attend this wonderful service at the National Cemetery located adjacent to March Air Reserve Base. I'd estimate 40 to 50 of Mickey's extende...

Air Nikon Funeral Service...finally.

All - I know it seems like an inordinate amount of time since Mickey passed away...and it has been. However, all that aside, I'm providing the details of his service so that anybody who might be in southern California on Monday Jan 29th might have the opportunity to attend. Our friend Mickey is bein...

RE: Mickey Bednar (AirNikon) Passed Away

All - as tough as it's been on so many people this past week, it has been my distinct pleasure and honor to be able to post some photos of Mickey for you all to see. I'm receiving more via email from his closest friends and I hope to have them posted in the next couple of days. As I said in some of ...

RE: Mickey Bednar (AirNikon) Passed Away

"After reading through all of these posts though, I still do not see any mention of how he died? Was it sudden, was he sick for a long time and just didn't tell anyone?" This past Monday, I received the phone call about his passing. Tuesday the initial email I received says he passed away from cardi...

RE: AirNikon - Put A Face To The Name.

Thanks guys for the kind words. I still get out and photo planes on occasion...now that PHX weather is awesome I hope to do a bit more. These pesky trains are just so close though... More 'early' photos have ju...

RE: AirNikon - Put A Face To The Name.

Thanks everybody. Yes, we're talking about two different guys. Mickey Bednar sometimes went by the name Mike, and he lived in Southern California (though he was born in Pennsylvania.) I suppose he picked up railroad photography from tagging along with me on our airplane photo trips early in the 2000...

AirNikon - Put A Face To The Name.

For those who never met AirNikon and would like to put a face to the name, I've just started posting some images on a personal page dedicated to AirNikon. This is legit...I was a personal friend to Mickey and last time we spent some time together was just 6 weeks ago during his trip to Arizona for t...
