RE: E-190 For AF Régional

Great news... I hope this is only the start of a flurry of orders from Air France and other European Carriers for the Embraer 170/190 family.

I bet this leaves Rekkof in a difficult position...

Fica bem,

Miguel

RE: Novespace/CNES A300B2 Zero-G, 8th Spfc

Hey Patrick, Yeah, I had to do a full medical test (FAA Class III I believe, it was the one you need to become a private aircraft pilot, not a commercial one). I had to spend the better part of a day at the hospital doing all sorts of exams (blood and urine tests, X-Rays, ECG, EEG - doctor's mistake...

RE: TAP Air Portugal Mx

Hey, I cannot answer the first question (even though I doubt it is more than what you can get in the US) but the last question is true: they do complete overhauls on CFM56s (including 737NGs, which TAP does not have) and partial work on CF6-50Cs, RB-21...

Hey, In fact it isn't easy being accepted, but the most difficult part is after the acceptance, all the hard work you have to do in order to actually finish the whole thing. The experiment was to try out a reaction wheel we designed for a student satellite project we are participating (SSETI). All w...

RE: Why Is Diesel Cheaper Than Unleaded?

You seem to forget one thing: for the past ten years the evolution in Diesel technology for automobiles (high-pressure injection systems, variable-geometry turbos, etc.) has been mindblowing when gasoline technology has basically stagnated. It is incorrect to state modern diesels pollute more than m...

Just because the bull dies "immediately" doesn't mean the whole point of a bullfight is to make the animal suffer for as long as possible.

RE: Christians, Give Us Your Opinions On Homosexuality

I am not a christian per se (I consider myself an atheist catholic) but there is just one point I would like to comment, the one about the de-gaying camps. Unlike almost everyone in here I think that under the right conditions they might work, wether homossexuality is genetic or cultural. A few deca...

RE: Women In Saudi Arabia... Unbeleviable Stories

Funny enough, Iraq was one of the countries in the region where women had the most rights (that is going down the toilet now, thanks to the religious extremist now in charge). After North Korea I think Saudi Arabia must be the most repressive regime in the world (and possibly the most corrupt). Just...

RE: Thoughts On Bullfighting

First of all, it is not a sport, nor is it a particularly dangerous activity (just look at the statistics if you want). And for those who think it is honorable for the bull, even if he is the bravest of all and kills all the bullfighters that face him (which I admit is something I would like to watc...

Hey, I checked out that site and uploaded a photo but it said the photo is in the queue to be accepted... I don't know but anyway, that picture is good, maybe in a week or so you will be able to see it. I will make a selection of the best but I have dial-up connection so it might take a few time for...

I don't know where it was caught but the best salmon I ever ate was an entrée in a restaurant in St. Emillion, a wine town near Bordeaux. It was almost a month ago and I can still taste it in my mouth...

Thanks, I thought I would be sick as well but if you take the medication, stay relaxed and eat properly (no abuses) most people bare it without major problems. I have tons of pictures but most of them are crappy. Reason: in 0-g you move alot, so most pictures are out of focus (I also have pictures o...

RE: Thoughts On Bullfighting

There are things I like about my country, things I don't, things I am proud about but very few things I am ashamed of. The fact that bullfights still exist in my country (although unpopular among most segments of the population) is something that truly ashames me. I have heard every argument possibl...

Novespace/CNES A300B2 Zero-G, 8th Spfc

Thanks to the Education Department of the European Space Agency (ESA) I was lucky enough to participate in the 8th Student Parabolic Flight Campaign (SPFC), which took place in Bordeaux from the 12th to the 29th July 2005. This is a small account of my experience during those days, with a special fo...
