RE: How Would An Airbus Have Reacted In SFO Crash?

I would rather put this here than in the general thread on OZ214, I loaded up this situation in a 737 simulator (biggest I have access too) and let the speed drop off on purpose with a flaps 30 landing onto 28L with a high approach, and surprise, after letting VREF fall 20kt below intended, bang I h...

RE: OZ 777 Crash At SFO Part 5

What should the vertical speed be at 1000ft and then again at about 100ft? I would calculate around 600-700fpm at 1000ft (3 degree glideslope) and they beginning the flare crossing over the seawall this should be progressively reducing, not so?

Below are a few of the last data points. I agree with 7BOEING7 that the 109 was probably on the ground. What is interesting is that even at 600ft they were a little slow at 141, and speed continued to bleed off, 123 at 300 would be the clue here, even with altimeter adjustment. 06:26 37.5900 -122.30...

Kind of like saying why use 2 engines instead of 4. Money. Consumers want cheaper flights, fuel costs a lot, so we reduce empty weights and decrease fuel burn. FBW systems are one way of reducing the weight of aircraft as well as simplifying and removing many repair and maintenance jobs. A 777 that ...
