I have flown the 340 a few times, and have found it a great plane. I flew the 330 recently and I found it a great plane also. They are sharp looking planes. Of course what an airline does with the interior makes all the difference.

And just ignore Dutchdeltadude. The rest of us do!

If ANY of the prices above are accurate I withdraw my sympathy for UA owner/emploees. No wonder it is difficult for a FF to upgrade! Maybe UA should start loking at the pax as the most valuable asset.

Try what you can for an upgrade. It never hurts. All they can say is no! I am 1 K with UA, and have gotten upgrades with certificates, but I have to say I have NEVER heard my name called out to the desk for a free upgrade. Economy Plus does give more room. Good luck!

EWR is closer to the city then JFK by far. You can now take a train to New York from EWR, and cannot from JFK. On Aer Lingus, to clear customs in Ireland over New York is a great benefit. Smart move by UA! It is the first "business" idea I have seen from them in a long time. By not following US, UA jut might pick up some more customers. If you do not requalify you go back to the bottom. It is a year to year qualifier. I am 1 K and have been for many years. I am sure next year (2003) I will not qualify for 1 K since I will be flying oneworld alot, and will lose all status with UA.

Isn't it intersting how the movies do mess up shots with planes in them. You are right how they will take off in one aircraft and land in another, or have a 737 flying transatlantic. I use to think that only FF flew F class but now I think it is full of airline employees and their families. Do you get the upgrades when u make the reservation or only at the airport when others are accomodated first?
