C130 Videos. Jato & Carrier Landing

Trying to find a couple of old video clips.

First one is the good old C130 landing on carrier

Second one is the JATO assist landing were the aircraft crashes in a ball of flame

Not that I've seen any of those videos, but a JATO assisted landing? What the hell would that be good for?

The landing video was a test to see how quickly they could stop a C-130. I saw it on a C-130 base.

But I can't get them to work right now, you may have better luck.

Pilot fired the rockets while still too high. Dropped out of the sky like a rock and broke both wings. Fuel spilling from the wings was ignited by the rockets.
Not the best idea tried.

If I remember correctly, the C-130 JATO landing scenario was being tested out for a plan to rescue hostages back in the mid 80's. Probably the hostages in Iran, though that part is fuzzy. Pretty impressive video, seen it a long time ago and this time I saved it. I think it could have worked, but they scrapped the idea after that accident.

Now that you mention it, it was for the hostage rescue mission in Iran. The plan was to land the C-130 on a soccer field near the embassy, pickup the hostages and get out. Glad they tried it before they went over there.
