I see lots of pictures in the database of European fighter jets going to and from Goose Bay, Newfoundland. Are they just practicing transatlantic flights, or is there a training facility there?
There is a fairly major NATO tactical training facility there and is home to permanent Luftwaffe and Italian Air Force detachments. By the by, technically it's in Labrador and not Newfoundland proper.
South Carolina - too small to be its own country, too big to be a mental asylum.
Wasn't the Maple Flag exercise held there last year? I worked at Bodø AFB in Norway at the time, and we had a few C-130s a An-124, and 10 F-16s going to Goose Bay during April with equipment for the Maple flag exercise.
130,000 Sqare Kilometers of low level training area, is what is available at Goose Bay. http://www.airforce.forces.ca/5wing/about_us/index_e.asp Thomas they may have staged thruogh there, but Maple Flag has always been held at Cold Lake.
