C-130s Over MKE Suburbs

Tue Jul 04, 2006 11:57 pm

Hey, this is my first post on the military forum. Today, at about 9:30, 2 or 3 C-130s flew VERY low over the northern suburbs of Milwaukee. They were around 500-600ft in the air. Can anyone shed some light into why this happened?

I just saw three C-130s fly over Chicago's northern suburbs (Winnetka) also, at about Noon, headed directly north about 1 mile inland of Lake Michigan. They were also very LOW. They also appeared to have something large hanging between the engines, about the size of the engines. Scared the sh_t out of my Mom.

Is it possible they were doing a fly over for a parade or some other 4th of July event? I would assume thet were the ones based at MKE. United787 what you saw hanging between the engines were fuel tanks.

The 440th Airlift Wing of the U.S. Air Force Reserve based at Gen. Mitchell Intl. does a round of flybys for local 4th of July parades in the metro Milwaukee area each year. They usually send up between three and seven aircraft to do the flybys.

The large things hanging between the engines are external fuel tanks.

They always flyover the Wauwatosa parade, every 4th. This is probably where they where headed. Where exactly where you when you saw them????
