Warthog Over Mt. Snow

Wed Dec 27, 2006 4:49 am

I was at Mt. Snow (Vermont) skiing a week ago and was going up on the ski lift on the last day going to the summit and hear what sounded like a jet and looked back and 2 warthogs were approaching the mountain and circled the mountain a few times and left. Anyone know what they were doing or why they were there?

Happy holidays everyone  santahat

They were probably on a training flight from either BAF or BDL.

I live in Vermont, and used to live in Grafton (not far from Mt. Snow). My house had a small valley on one side, and one day two Warthogs came up that valley so low I swear I was looking down on them. They are a fairly regular sight in that area; I assume they are coming from Bradley doing training flights. It is not an MOA; I guess because they seem to fly at very low altitudes (altitudes that would get a civilian pilot in big trouble with the FAA) they don't need the protection of an MOA. The altitude of the above mentioned planes was less than 50 feet. This was in the early 80's, but I have seen them in the area many times since.
