Westover 2007 Air Show

I believe there's going to be an air show at Westover, even though there's no major jet team scheduled to perform. Maybe their transition to the C-5B is cause for celebration and the show will be built around that. No offense to the fighter jets, but I love watching the C-5 at air shows. Too often they are just on the ground with mouth and butt open. It's rare (for us, at least, here in New England) to see that plane in action.

Anyone know of preliminary plans for this show?

The dates are August 11 & 12. Here is the website www.greatnewenglandairshow.com. The following weekend there will be a show at Pease. I will be driving in from Michigan for the Pease show and might make Westover too.

Both Westover and Pease always put on a good show. I'll try to make the Pease show, at least. If things work out, I can make Westover, too. The week in between I'll go visit Battleship Cove (USS Massachusetts,BB59) and the CA the USS Salem.

Went to a Pease show several years back. Enjoyed it except for the fact that it took over a hour to get out of the parking area. Battleship cove is very interesting. Is the USS Salem the one that's in Quincy? Ever been to the USS Albacore in Portsmouth? I wish I had another week so I could go down to Otis which is the week after Pease.

When was the last show @ KPSM? I haven't been to one there since the '90 show--before the 509 BW packed up and the base was turned over to ANG...

I want to say the mid-1990s? I know it has been a long time. I know it would be a bit tougher for both Pease and Westover without the natural pull of a major jet team. But I plan to be at both shows, independent of that. I think the draw for Westover will be their 'new' C5-Bs and for Pease their re-engined KC-135s. It would be nice, since no Thunderbirds or Blue Angels at either show, to get real good support from F-16s in Burlington and F-15s from Westfield/Otis. Of course the A-10s are a big favorite, as well. A B-1/B-2 fly-by would be great! And I think the F-117 is now gone from inventory, so no hope there I guess.

I think I was at the last show at Pease. Can't recall the date but it had to be 8-9 years ago.Don't remember many details but I know they had a Harrier demo and a B-2 flyover. I'm going to see the KC-135s. NH is putting new tail markings an theirs. At the last one there was one from Maine so I hope they will bring one down again. They still have F-117s so there is always hope for one. The website for the Pease show is supposed to come on line 3/31.

If any of you guys are in the area on Friday and see a Ford Fusion with Michigan plates sitting by the end of the runway that would be me. Stop by and say hi!

Grrrrrrr.  Angry Maybe because they could not get a critical mass of acts together? Maybe they couldn't get a jet team secured? I know they weren't going to get the Thunderbirds or Blues. This is too bad! It means that Pease will have to be 'it' I guess for us northern New Englanders!

Hey Chris what about Brunswick and Otis. From where you're at what is Brunswick about 4 hours? Otis doesn't seem to be too bad of a treck for you.

Actually, Brunswick is an option because my folks live on the ocean up in Kennebunkport and I can use their home as a launching point early on show-day. Thanks for the tip; I think I will try to hit Brunswick, partly because I've never been there!

Ah Kennebubkport. Nice little town. I love Alisson's Restraunt on the main street. I had wanted to get up to Brunswick before it closed. I'm usually in Portsmouth in mid to late September but won't be this year as I'm going to the Gathering Of Mustangs in Columbus. I would guess this will be their last show so I guess I won't make it.

Chris to to www.fencecheck.com. Register and then go to Air Shows. They have quite a few posts about shows in NE.
