Why "shame", I quite like what it looks like and it's not like they don't have the need for the jet?

Very nice looking airplane. The Polish Air Force is more and more looking like a modern well equipped arm. Much better than the appearance it had when equipped with Russian made aircraft.

Post #11 in the other thread got it then.....
Thanks for posting. So, this was the actual aircraft.....

I see that they omitted the flag on the tail - nicer, sleeker look.

Did they reconfigure the interior into a VIP layout or added fuel tanks to further improve on the
ER's range? Maybe a new version of this would turn up in there again somewhere.....

I'm thinking they could have chosen this for the production milestone.....

.....but probably picked the one in best condition. Good decision!

Did they decide about this after the April crash, or was this in the pipeline already? To have such a major cabin refit in 1,5 months would be quite fast...

My thinking as well. Being just a leased aircraft, it may be nothing more than a livery change (does the Government own a large block of LOT?) Or perhaps this is limited work still in progress - removal and replacement of regular seating with club seats and divans (some completion centers might be fighting for work during these times despite announcements of backlogs -- and might be able to pull it off in short notice), though exterior repainting ahead of interior refit may not be the common sequence. A significant reduction in the number of seats could gain a marked improvement in range - if the lease allows for such a change (lease to own?) Not sure if a supplemental Type Certificate would be required for these changes.

As far as I remember reading the lease is for two years so the Polish Govm't has time to come up with a permanent solution but taking bids for two long-haul and three or four short-haul aircraft.

So it seems that indeed it was a reaction to the loss of the Tu145.

That's a nice, stylish livery: modest and classy. Just 'Poland' would have made the livery looked much better. Anyway, great job!

This
Flightglobal report says the Government is buying both E175s.....
Quote:
"The Polish government is purchasing two Embraer E175-200LR airliners from LOT Polish Airlines to replace its Tupolev Tu-154M fleet.
Both aircraft, MSN 283 and MSN 285, are equipped with GE CF34-8E5 engines. They were delivered to LOT Polish Airlines in 2009."
.....So there's that aspect to clear up.

First photos in the database with the new livery......
Interestingly, the caption also says "leased".
