AirTanker To Take On Falklands Airbridge?

Sun Dec 08, 2013 12:36 am

What is the situation of Falkland Islands airbridge?

I am not sure, but I think it is now flown by HiFly with A330/A340.

We had a discussion about this earlier this year, but the situation of AirTanker was a bit unclear. RAF retired VC10 a few months ago and AirTanker will be replacing it, but the question is when and what impact it will have on the charter flight.

Apparently AirTanker wants to fly to Falklands still in this year.

Does this mean that AirTanker will replace not just VC10, but also that contracted airbridge?

Hi,

I guess they already started operating this service, saw one on FR24 to my surprise last week, was expecting the usual CS- reg'd Hifly flight.

AirTanker has been operating the Falklands Airbridge for the past 2 months now once the Hifly contract ended.

Okay, so no now AirTanker is the only operator to Falklands.

Are there still HiFly flights from LGW to MPN?

From what I know they still operate the LGW-MPN for oil workers weekly.

This exaplins the A340-600 that seems to be more or less resident at the moment. I wondered what it was doing and why it came in from Mount Pleasant!
