The F-15C was flying at high altitude, between
FL-300 and
FL-400 according to news reports. The Pilot declared an emergency with ARTCC and then radio contact was lost. He is reported as an experienced pilot in the F-15 and with the MAANG. The wreckage has been located and is reported as a "deep hole in the ground" with widely scattered debris. It is unknown if the pilot punched out, or not, he has not been found. Search efforts went on all day yesterday, since the time of the crash but was suspended at midnight. The search resumed today. But last night, around 0300L (0700Z) a NYANG
HC-130N (106th
RW) joined the search, using its infrared equipment and the unit's
HH-60G with
PJ's aboard. The
HC-130 has been refueled by a NHANG
KC-135R and more ANG, USCG, Army, and US
AF assets will be used in the search and rescue until he is found and rescued, or recovered.
My prayers are with the pilot, his family and friends and the MAANG's 102nd
FW .
