The H-53K looks similar to its predecessor, but is actually a brand new fly-by-wire, glass cockpit aircraft that can lift 12.2t (27,000lbs), or triple the weight of the E-model.

Not even close. The examples you cited are still largely based upon the originals. What I mentioned are completely different aircraft masquerading as the originals.

So the H-53K has new engines and a glass cockpit. How exactly it that a 'new aircraft masquerading a an H-53?' Just a major new variant, obviously not more extensive than all they did to the 737.
The only clean sheet design in your list is the Backfire compared to the Blinder.

It also has a composite fuselage.

find it interesting that the article lists the payload is tripled to 27,000 lbs. I'm not a CH-53 expert, but I'm pretty sure the legacy -53 can lift more than 9,000 lbs, even hot/ high. Hell a UH-60 can do that, not hot/high however. Seems like they are putting out the old CH-53 had such a poor payload, the new bird triples it. I remember from sling load school that the CH-53 was the top sling load lifter in the US military rotary wing fleet. Did a propaganda minister get involved with this news release?
