V-22 Ospreys In Nice
Military aircraft frequently use Nice, but it's the first time I have seen these Ospreys. I can right now see three of them on the tarmac from my residence, they have been here since Friday.They took off but came back later. I guess they must be American, maybe from a NATO base or a hangar ship. Very interesting to see them, and how they take off. But why are they staying so long at a busy civilian airport -Easter break?

US - French military last week had deployment exercise with V-22's deployed from USS Kearsarge in the Red Sea, to operate on the French Mistral class LHD Tonnerre ship in the Mediterranean.
In 2015 the French navy declared the V-22 Osprey fully qualified for operational missions to and from the Mistral class.
I suspect the aircraft are now sitting in Nice waiting for the US ship to catch up and come pick them up.

Its quite possible. UK France Italy and Spain said to be Interested in Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey.
