Do the US Army Golden Knights now fly a Dash 8 for parachute jumps?

Mon Nov 27, 2017 9:43 pm

Hello all,

From the official Facebook page.

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_ ... %2As%2As-R

I can’t tell if this is a very good photoshop or a legitimate picture. In the bottom of one of the pictures there is a Dash 8-300 in the full Golden Knights livery. It seems to be configured as their new jump aircraft. But I can’t find any other sources or pictures anywhere. Can someone clarify? I know they have been using the Fokker F-27 forever.

Hopefully not, but in reality, the C-31/F-27 must getting old and will eventually get replaced.

Which U.S. Military Parachute Team got a Viking Twin Otter? I'm sure I read about that someplace

Went to Westover ARB and Latrobe's airshows this past month. Golden Knights used the C-31 for both.

I too haven't heard if they were switching to the Dash 8.

Just got back from the Cleveland National Air Show and the Golden Knights used the Dash 8. Thought I'd update the thread. I cannot for the life of me find the full registration since it seems like the aircraft's status has been updated yet. Anyone have any info?

FY not fully confirmed I believe:
17(?)-01609 is DHC-8-315 c/n 315 ex lots of airlines (incl BA, Brymon, LIAT, Air Wisconsin etc.) most recently operating in Canada as C-FJFW

Wait....do they jump out of the Dash 8? If so how? I was not aware there was egress behind the props..And how do they modify the doors to allow that?

There are others on their Facebook page that show it pretty well but you can't shear them here.

Dang, I miss that feeling... It is so fun, so amazing... stepping out into the air like that! Hooo! What a rush.

Nice bird to jump out of (nicer than any I ever jumped from).
