Probably true. However, the possibility that the F-22's were in the area may have prevented the mercenaries from getting "air cover" from the Syrian Air Force, which they complained bitterly of not having.

You can probably obtain the same with the F-15's but then the Syrian Army would know where the F-15's will be and where they will not be, with less guess work.

If the Russians have s300 or especially 400 systems deployed in Syria and decide they need to use them( not saying they will but how many times is the weather report wrong) F15’s won’t last long flying top cover.

I’m really amazed at how confident certain posters are about the future course of events.

Let’s do a thought exercise and pretend for a minute we are a British military planner circa 1900.

Your primary concern is France

By 1910 France is your closest ally.

By 1920 you are worrying about the #’s of US and Japanese Battleships.

By 1930 you are doing everything possible to prevent the defense budget from being further cut because the politicians think another war can never happen.

By 1940 you are fighting for your life.

I could go on but I think you see the point.

An old article - 2017 -, what is the status of India in this project, will they get the Su-57 or will they pass?
Many happy landings, greetings from The Netherlands!

In may 2017 India said it was willing to continue to participate in the program FGFA only under the condition of Russia's transfer of key technologies in the production of fifth generation fighter jets to India. In response, Russia requested an additional $7 billion from India. India has decided that it does not have that kind of money. Initially, India wanted a fifth-generation aircraft and technology for its production, spending no more than $12 billion on the program.

So they are out of the program. Is Russia alone in this?

Nothing official yet that I've read but it's looking more likely. Like I've said in another thread, they want every for nothing.

At the moment there is no official information. But if India gets out of the project - it's not scary.
In any case, we will not sell technology for a price.
