767 Tanker (KC-46) Flying now all over the West Coast

Mon Jun 18, 2018 10:07 pm

While people will probably complain to move this to the Military Forum, it is a 767 in my eyes and is visiting civilian airports right now. Aircraft N884BA, just shot an approach into LAS, but never touched down. If you go on FR24 right now, you can see where they started this morning at Boeing Field, shot down the west coast and dipped into several west coast airports, without landing. I am sure this is all for certification with this ongoing delayed aircraft that the USAF has told Boeing, enough is enough and get it done!

Anyway, the routing is pretty interesting, so check it out on FR24 by typing in the reg #. The link is https://www.flightradar24.com/BOE466/1cd15cbe. Looks like the pilots are getting tired or they are running out of fuel and heading back to BFI now.

I tend to see this a lot from Boeing military aircraft when viewing flightradar24. I'm not really sure why this happens, but aircraft certification is probably a rather good guess.
No, "FA" in my username does not stand for "flight attendant"...

Looks like the first delivery will be in October according to Reuters. Link should be available soon.

They are using a 767 tanker for refueling validation flights out of BFI. Various USAF fights launch of our BFI as well and hook up with the tankers. I think there have been "issues" with the IFR system as designed on the 46. Probably doing other validations works projects at the same time The Restrited areas over Nveada make for good airspace for this kind of work.
