Fly past for crew of Mi Amigo on 75th anniversary of their loss

Saw this on the BBC, a heart warming tale despite the tragic start: -

I saw some videos of this on You Tube this morning, thinking that will make a good thread here. But you beat me and what's more got better footage than I was finding of the flypast.

'Mi Amigo' was delivered in Jan '44 and assigned to it's crew and unit in England, it was returning, damaged, after an abortive raid on a German airfield in Denmark, having dropped it's bombs over the North Sea, since the target had been obscured and they were being heavily attacked by enemy fighters.
Certainly they crew were trying to avoid in their stricken aircraft, not only Tony and his schoolmates but also large concentrations of housing around the park and woodland.

Nice touch with the 4 F-15E's and the 'missing man' formation.
Not everyday a major British regional city gets to see a C-47, MC-130, V-22, KC-135, two Typhoons and four F-15E's, lucky with the weather too considering the time of year.
Large crowds at the park for the flypast judging by the footage, which included relatives of Mi Amigo's crew.

With the solemn commemoration, there some lighter moments too;

I walked through that park going to school every day, walking on a parallel path to the Mi Amigo memorial and never knew it was there. This was a lovely tribute, I'm sorry to no longer live close enough to have been there.

I grew up near Endcliffe Park (went to Junior School at Hunters Bar).

It’s interesting. The story that the plane was trying to avoid the children was always dismissed as romantic folklaw. The general consensus was the pilot was just trying to avoid the dense housing.

Either way the pilot and crew were heroes, but from now on the folklaw will be the official narrative.

Random question... Is folklaw the British English way of saying folklore in American English?

No. For some reason my phone came up with that and I failed to notice. You are absolutely correct. It should be folklore.
