Military Aircraft

Mon Sep 02, 2019 2:01 am

Has anyone noticed that the first page of the "Top Views for the Last 24 hours" is becoming more and more about military aircraft even though this is Airliners.net, not MilitaryAircraft.net. Today I counted 22 pictures of military aircraft on the first page of the Top 24 and only 14 pictures of civilian airliners. And almost all of the military aircraft were Russian. I think it is interesting to occasionally see what's going on in the military aviation world but I come to Airliners.net for the civilian airliner pictures, not military and especially not Russian military.

I smell a troll but I'll bite.

Airliners.net is just a name. This site has photos going back to the early days of flight and is a haven for all aviation enthusiasts from all over the world. There are even pictures of the Space Shuttle and rocket launches here. Plus no one says you have to look at only military aviation pictures, the updated search function is a great tool for photos here.

The military photos on the homepage are just the ones that got the most views lately. The Moscow Air Show is going on so it's not hard to figure out why a lot of the recent photos are Russian aircraft.
When wasn't America great?

I didn't think about the Moscow airshow. Probably what's going on. PS - Not a troll.

I myself find commercial airliners boring to look at. There are very few unique airliners. The B-737 series, B-757, B-767, and B-787 all look like the A-32X series, A-300, A-310, A-330 and A-350s.
Only the B-747, B-777, A-340, and A-380 are stand outs.

Military aircraft, OTOH, are very unique in general. Most fighters don't look like another fighter (there are exceptions). Tankers, bombers, cargo, recees, weather, command and control, and special mission aircraft are much more interesting.

Then again this is just my opinion.
