Retread Tires on Military Planes

What is it like running retread tires on military planes, including military transport planes and fighter jets. Also, what measures are taken to ensure that they are safe.

Getting a brand new, non-retreaded tire out of the warehouse is more of a surprise actually.

A retread tire is little different to getting an avionics box that's been repaired and checked at the workshop, or a hydraulic actuator that's just out of overhaul.

You still after click bait stories? It feels a bit sad. It’s Sh1t like this that drags a.net down, at least when it was a paid for subscription people had to invest money to make sure they could do this.

On a side note, I recently learned how you could make $1567/day without leaving home, the banks don’t want you to know this trick.

IIRC, and it's been a long time, but the T-38 had to have new tires every change. But that was almost 40 years ago, so my memory could be off. Fini flight at KRND 8/83.

Working with the tire distribution warehouse at Wright-Patt back in the '80s. Wasn't uncommon to send a L-188 belly compartment full of T-38 tires to AETC bases. Had to be careful how we loaded them, tires shifting inflight could keep the belly doors from opening.
