Hungary to acquire A330F - operated by Wizz Air
The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs acquired former Qatar Airways Airbus A330-200F A7-AFF. The freighter would be operated by Wizz Air.

Interesting move, seems to be quite expensive to order one aircraft for this purpose.

Why is this in the Military forum - Wizz Air suggests Commercial use? Or will Wizz operate it on behalf of the Hungarian military?

Seems quite a useless move in my opinion.
In critical times you either need way more lift & capability than a single 330F, or you need all the saved money you haven’t spent not acquiring a single A330F

Hungary is probably beginning to realize that this is going to last for a long time. Masks and other PPEs will be in demand for years, if not a full decade. Then there is the inevitable rush when a vaccine comes out - they need to be flown in from somewhere. Part of the reason is that many countries won't just let military aircraft enter. One of those happen to be China, where most of the worlds medical equipment and vaccines come from. Unlike many other countries, Hungary also doesn't have a native airline with a large long-haul jet that could be chartered for the job.
A more cynical reason is that they can also provide state aid to Wizz Air this way.

They are, but the A332F is only available with either PW or RR engines and not GE for some reason.

Market was felt to be too small for GE to be interested in coughing up their share of certification costs.
