Saudi Government's extra long range Airbus A-340
Saudi Arabian Government has a very long range range Airbus A-340 VIP (HZ-HMS2) that was originally put together for Brunei but never used by Brunei. Does that plane get used for anything special? I am guessing it outdistances the 744 and 743 VIPs still left in the government fleet.

The below was from an article online about that one-off A-340 that Saudi Government started using in 2007..

One version of this type (referred to by Airbus as the A340-8000) was ordered by the prince Jefri Bolkiah requesting a non-stop range of 15,000 kilometres (8,100 nmi). This A340-8000, in the Royal Brunei Airlines livery had an increased fuel capacity, an MTOW of 275 tonnes (606,000 lb), similar to the A340-300, and minor reinforcements to the undercarriage. It is powered by the 150 kilonewtons (34,000 lbf) thrust CFM56-5C4s similar to the -300E. Only one A340-8000 was produced.

Beautiful bird. Can’t get used too much for the shopping trips etc. Hope it flies for many more years.
