On Wednesday (May 12th) the Brazilian government published a dispatch from its Ministry of Defence authorizing the acquisition of "two strategic transport aircraft able to perform inflight refueling". The document stated that these aircraft have to be second-hand in order to reduce acquisition costs and speed up their EIS so they can provide humanitarian support during the country's current sanitary emergency.
After the retirement of Brazil's three last KC-137s, the country's airforce counts with the KC-130s and KC-390s as aircraft able to perform inflight refuelling.

Rumours in Brazil state that this dispatch was tailor-made for the acquisition of two RAF's A330-200 MRTT that were presented and offered to Brazil a couple of years ago. Indeed that are not many A330 MRTT/ KC767/KC-46 operators out there, especially those willing to sell two of such aircraft. Also, the conversion of civilian A330/767s to such standards are costly and take a long time to complete.
