Antonov rolls out the first fully domestic An-178 transport

So far the only export customer has been Peru with only 1 airframe ordered. This aircraft occupies an interesting niche between the C-295 and the C-130. I wonder how big the market is for this type of transport. Two major changes that I've noticed about the modernized airframe are that the winglets have been removed and the cockpit avionics have been upgraded.

It is a shame there is so many airlifters to choose from as the AN-178 is a great size in my opinion.

The AN-178 has nearly identical cargo volume and max payload as the C-130J. But it can only carry it a much shorter distance due to the lower MTOW. That makes it an excellent size for tactical work moving vehicles to the front line.

AN-178 can fly 15,000 kg of payload 1,385 km.
C-130J can fly 15,422 kg of payload 3,300km.

Cargo bays dimensions are always hard to compare as some give the width for the cargo ramp opening but are much wider inside. The AN-178 ramp is 2.73m wide compared to the 3.05m ramp of the C-130J but they are very similar max width inside due to the AN-178 using a circular cross section.

AN-178 cargo volume is listed as 125m2
C-130J cargo volume is listed as 128.9m2

Ya gotta wonder what their possible production rate might be. If someone ordered 20 (or 50 or 100) how long might that take?

Great question, one would have to assume that the entire program is likely shelved indefinitely.

I assume if the factory has been destroyed the project is dead. Ukraine will likely recieve second hand C-130's for their transport needs.

Sviatoshyn airfield has also been damaged but the status of the aircraft stationed there is not mentionned. The factory seems to have been hit.
