Wouldn’t that be a shame?!
Also, it houses systems like Iskander, versions of which arguably breach treaties.
Russia tried to destroy a US-made Patriot air defense system in Ukraine last week with a hypersonic missile, two US officials tell CNN.
The Ukrainian air defenders fired multiple missiles from the Patriot at different angles to intercept the Russian missile

Where it's getting juicy is that pretty much at the same time and in the same area, a Su-34 also fell from the sky.
And did I mention that Klintsy is located a mere 50km from the Ukrainian border? We know the deadly capabilities of the Russians to shot down their own aircraft but these losses might also be the work of the Ukrainian neighbours testing their new toys .

A Su-35 and another Mi-8 are also rumoured to have been lost today. That's really a lot of friendly fires if you ask me.

So the wild ass rumor of Ukrainian column crossing the border to attack Russia was beneficial after all
More jumpy Russian AA crew, fewer Russian pilots venturing close to the front line.

The ISIS-T system will be new, advanced and militarily proven, and it will be effective against Russian aircraft.

the US, which recently gave permission to other Western allies to supply Ukraine with advanced fighter jets, including US-made F-16s, is favourably disposed to the idea of gifting Ukraine the F/A-18s.
TheSonntag wrote:Just a side note, but currently there are lots of Nato planes maneuvering over Europe. Air Defender 2023 in Germany is starting next week, but the first planes have arrived. Today the B-1 currently stationed in UK did bombing runs in Baumholder, Germany, and I counted 8 Belgian F16 flying to the dutch North Sea proving ground, and 20 visible Luftwaffe fighters, not to speak of UK, France and others.
Nothing of this in itself is a deviation of the normal practices, but the numbers of maneuvers, exercises and drills is huge currently.
RJMAZ wrote:Regarding the classic Hornet rumour they would have to be ex-RAAF aircraft. Officially retired only 4 months before the Ukraine invasion. 25 Hornets have already sold to Canada and their final aircraft was delivered only a few months before the Ukraine invasion.
The RAAF have been storing their Hornets with the intentional of selling. Air USA a private company that does aggressor training had agreed to purchase a large number in 2020.
The RAAF Hornets are far more capable than your average F-16. Australia is a non NATO country

Another KA-52 taken down.
So what is it now? According to Denys, this makes it 4 taken down since the counter offensive began?

It's amazing how quickly they were integrated onto the Su-24, during peacetime this would have taken years.
