Isn’t Moffett where NASA’s C-141A has been sitting unflown for years? Ramp space may be less precious there than at Edwards.

It jsut did an incredible fly by at low altitude in both directions at the airshow at Edwards AFB. The Stargazer L-1011 and NASA DC-8 are there too..

I saw her on the ramp Sat morning on the way to golf at Moffett and snapped a few pics. It took off about an hour later and was climbing fast until it disappeared into clouds. Note the Orbis MD-10 too.

It belongs in the sky, not a museum but I’m glad it’s not going to be scrapped
It’s really beyond belief that enough funding could not be sourced from a massive government budget to keep this incredibly valuable, sophisticated aircraft that’s in immaculate condition with totally unique capabilities in service

I hear you, and I don't think anyone questioned its value or ability to continue. It was more a case of limited dollars and expanding scientific opportunities elsewhere.
I'd like to see astronomy have better funding as well. I'd also lump Arecibo into that, it too was a loss that could have been funded better than it was. And I'd like to see more concerns about the satellite constellations being addressed. But that's just me.
The incoming Republican House has already raised some of these issues with the National Science Foundation. So maybe there will be some progress.
