Where'd You Get Your Username?

Mon Jun 19, 2000 10:33 pm

Hey everyone,
I was wondering where everyone got their username. I'll start. Some of you have wrote to me calling me DeltaAirlines, not DeltAirlines. I got the DeltAirlines idea from a Virgin ad in Boston that read "Fly to London Virgin." So I thought that was pretty creative so I applied it toward my favorite airline (Delta). So I came up with DeltAirlines. How about everyone else?

My username comes from the Northrop N-156F prototype fighter, which went on to become the F-5 Freedom Fighter/Skoshi Tiger/Tiger II. Yeah, I know it's military in nature, but it's my favorite aircraft of all time, and I thought it deserved a username of its own.

I am "Canadian"...........ooooooohhh I hate that Molson's ad.

We "Canadian's" are called "Canucks".

I spend a lot of time in Rio de Janeiro where the locals are called "Carioca's". I wish I had been born a Carioca.

Therefore "Carioca Canuck".

I have had an interest in Japanese history (especially samurais) and would like to try learning more of that fiendishly difficult yet honorable language they call Nihongo!

Also my favorite Boeing widebody is the 777.

That's why I'm Samurai 777.

Great one, Danny, you've got me stumped!
BTW- My vote also goes to Canoica Canuck.

I picked texairport because it was the first thing that popped in my head when I regsitered with Airliners.net. However my favorite aiport is DFW, and it is in Texas, thus texairport.

P.S. N-156F, Danny's real name is Daniel, that is probably why he picked it as his username.

Delta Air Lines' first new plane to be in their newest livery was a Boeing 777-232, N863DA, Ship 7004. I like the livery, I am immensely proud of the airline, and so I took the reg of the plane as my screenname.

I chose "Classic707" because in my opinion the Boeing 707-321 is a classic jetliner. It is one of the best of all-time jets.

My user name was selected as a result of my profession, I am a Police Officer and have been for about 20 years. Working a good murder right now. Keep trying to convince the chief we need a helicopter, no luck so far.

It can seem stupid (probably it IS stupid) but since I have seen many times use No 4 in substitution of an "A" in some publicity or companies names, and the name of the "H" sounds "eh-eech" (sorry for the misspelling) it often comes to my eyes (although you are a little bit too young) as:

N: = itself
4: = A
K: = itself
H: = some kind of phonetic allusion to the sound (poorly) described above

total = NAKED

I'm sorry. No offence pretended, OK?
Just a perception.

"Virgin" is the company I admire most. The ideology, the work ethics, the way they take risks, but most of all, the way they do everything they can for the customer:-
No matter how far they have to go or the cost, the customer comes first & is 'always right' attitude they have. And "744" obviously because its my fav plane.

BTW I have "ALWAYS" wanted to post this question! Thanks for doing it.

I got mine just from thinking about what name should I use. Since the Tristar is my favorite plane, I already knew that Tristar would be in my username. Then, I could imagine a Turbocharger attached to the body of the Tristar right above the First Class seats. That seemed like a cool idea and name, so thats how I got mine, TurboTristar

Most of you would maybe guess that SAS is my favourite airline, and you will be right. Even though I've never flown SAS (but I have flown Braathens), they're my favourite airline.. Why? More different types of aircrafts than Braathens, and membership in one of the worlds biggest alliances (I even think STAR is the biggest, isn't it?).
And SAS was the launch customer for the 737-600.

Regards from SAS 737-600

The Greatest Aviator

Wed Jun 28, 2000 10:34 pm

In Australia we have a food spread which is called Vegimite, It was to the best of my knowledge 100% Australian. vegimite is made from beer extract very healthy and i beleive had extremly high vitamin B contents. it tastes kinda like Guiness..

Anyways a few years ago Vegimite was bought out by Kraft. a year or 2 ago Dick Smith (one of the worlds greatest aviators, ex head of Civil Aviation Safty Authoity and all round good guy) proposed a new product for the succesful 100% Australian owned Dick Smith foods. It was to make the only alternative to vegimite... AUSSIEMITE.. anyways that never went through cause Kraft went out and registered the name before Dick Smith got round to it. However Dick Smith is still manufacturing lots of other quality products.. Dick Head Matchers is one that comes to mind..

Regards,

mighty mighty Ausiemite

I wanted something that was very Townsville, because I had just moved there. Macair had just started RPT services and had purcharsed two SAAB 340B to compliment their Metro's and Merlin's. So the logical choice was to have 'Macair SAAB'.

I had also considered things like 'YCF-28' (Flight West Fokker F-28) or 'Sunstate TwOtter' (Sunstate Twin Otter, which was previously used TSV-DKI-CNS), but they didn't sound as good as 'Macair SAAB'.

I don't know, this "stratifier" word just popped into my head one day. Sounds cool, and I was in desperate need of a new nickname at the time, so I took it up.

I guess it's from reading about car engines... stratified intake for lean burn engines. Yea, I'm a car nut.

In a sense, I wouldn't be here if my screen name wasn't VirginLover.

I flew Virgin Atlantic in February, and after I got home, I wanted to know more and more information on Virgin. (I really think something's in their cola, cause this happened to my friend a few years ago   ) I found this website, and chose this name to reflect how I felt about my favorite airline.

I got it from the unofficial flag carrier of my home, Cathay Pacific. I'm having second thoughts why I chose this instead of something related to Dragonair as the last time I've flown CX was more than 4 years ago, I've never flown on any CX plane with the now not-so-new "Brushwing" logo and I don't remember their service.

Mine is cause My National AL, Aer Lingus's callsign is Shamrock!

The 77 comes in because when I was getting my e-mail at the start, david777 wasn't available, so I just went with david77, the 77 part sticks with me now.

I wanted the 777 part cause it's my favourite airliner, I even did a website for it, check it out!;;

My user name was created in light of the fact that l lived four and one-half years in Russia. The Ilyushin IL96M is currently the absolute pinnacle of Russian commercial aviation; it is the only Russian long-range high-bypass turbofan-powered airliner which was designed and built according to Western standards.

I believe that, given the opportunity, the IL96M will revolutionise Russian commercial aviation. Russia DEFINITELY could stand some financial success in its industry. I can't wait to actually fly on an IL96M!

C*U or pronounced C Star U...I didn't know if I could use "*" in my username...anyway, it sounds interesting.

Here's ALPA's description:

"C*U - ("U" represents forward velocity in flight equations) is a modified C* control law used in the B-777 to provide apparent speed stability. The trim switches set a reference speed that is summed with the actual speed in the feedback loop in such a way that the pilot feels conventional control force cues as speed changes. You "trim a speed," not the stabilizer (weight off wheels). Because the max trim reference speed is 330 knots, you would have to push on the control wheel to further increase speed toward Vmo. This provides a tactile high-speed cue."
