Airliners.Net President?

I've read all of the debates that have taken place here, and have wondered if it would be possible to "elect" an (honorary) president...just for fun on this forum.

There clearly seems to be 2 distinct groups here....the rights and the lefts.

It would be interesting to see who would win.

Anyone could nominate another member (even if it's yourself).
Then someone would have to "second" the nomination.

Then we'd hold an "election" as a separate thread....with each person only able to cast one vote...

Of course, we'd have a "primary" first to determine the final 2 contestants.

Most of you will see this idea as ludicrous, but remember, it's only for fun.
Whaddya think?

I would be an awesome Prez,I would make this thing wild!!!!! I would kick off people like Dustin/CRJ/Rocker, and ATA757.

But I seriously doubt I would get elected (Especially since their are America West, and Southwest fans in here) So I would have to say I would vote for Matt D, or TWFirst

Yeh, I would say I would have to go with Matt D too. He seems to be a pretty promadent person on the forums. If you ask someone name one person on the forums who gives alot of info, most would say Matt D i think...

Whippy: You didn't say anything about qualifications. What makes someone qualified to be honorary president of airliners.net?? I would think a candidate would need to have made a minimum number of posts over a period of time.... shouldn't the honorary president be someone who has contributed at a certain level to the forum, as opposed to somebody who just joined a couple of days ago? Since this is an aviation forum, maybe the candidate might also need to have flown a minimum number of times (once at the very minimum, don't you think??)

Curiously, seems like qualifications are overlooked in the American presidential race as well...

Observation: From the user profiles of those above expressing support for Matt D, his posts seem to appeal to teenagers. Makes perfect sense.

I nominate CstarU. His wit and humor are most appreciated, and after losing his empire in Burkina Faso, he needs a realm over which to reign.

either 500 posts, or 6 months as a registered user-whichever is higher.

A minimum of 10 verifiable flights..

Must be able to answer an Airliners quiz (which I will develop and post)

And of course win the election!!!

Shouldn't Johan be considered the prime minister (head of government, with all governing power rightly due)? Or perhaps he is the emperor, in the traditional sense.

What Whippy is proposing is a figurehead - president in an Icelandic or Israeli sense - head of state (much like Liz is down in London). Not president in the American sense (executive branch of government).

I'm not affraid of meting you, I met so many people from Airliners.net. I can give you tour at DCA & IAD. On September 9th 3 people from Belgium (airliners.net members) coming to visit me. I'll be their tour guide on DCA IAD BWI and PHL. On September 25th another airliners.net user from Los Angeles coming to DC and asked me if I can guide him here at local airports.
