Airliners.Net President?

Sun Aug 13, 2000 10:53 am

I've read all of the debates that have taken place here, and have wondered if it would be possible to "elect" an (honorary) president...just for fun on this forum.

There clearly seems to be 2 distinct groups here....the rights and the lefts.

It would be interesting to see who would win.

Anyone could nominate another member (even if it's yourself).
Then someone would have to "second" the nomination.

Then we'd hold an "election" as a separate thread....with each person only able to cast one vote...

Of course, we'd have a "primary" first to determine the final 2 contestants.

Most of you will see this idea as ludicrous, but remember, it's only for fun.
Whaddya think?
Who would you vote for?

Love to nominate myself, I've probably been at this forum longer than all of you (since about pic #3000)...   Although, I do like MattD's posts.

I would be an awesome Prez,I would make this thing wild!!!!! I would kick off people like Dustin/CRJ/Rocker, and ATA757.

But I seriously doubt I would get elected (Especially since their are America West, and Southwest fans in here) So I would have to say I would vote for Matt D, or TWFirst

Yeh, I would say I would have to go with Matt D too. He seems to be a pretty promadent person on the forums. If you ask someone name one person on the forums who gives alot of info, most would say Matt D i think...

Whippy: You didn't say anything about qualifications. What makes someone qualified to be honorary president of airliners.net?? I would think a candidate would need to have made a minimum number of posts over a period of time.... shouldn't the honorary president be someone who has contributed at a certain level to the forum, as opposed to somebody who just joined a couple of days ago? Since this is an aviation forum, maybe the candidate might also need to have flown a minimum number of times (once at the very minimum, don't you think??)

Curiously, seems like qualifications are overlooked in the American presidential race as well...

Observation: From the user profiles of those above expressing support for Matt D, his posts seem to appeal to teenagers. Makes perfect sense.

I nominate CstarU. His wit and humor are most appreciated, and after losing his empire in Burkina Faso, he needs a realm over which to reign.

Shared bathrooms? Hell no, where would I hide my Monica? By the way, you're the one leaving the toilet seat up all the time...

No seriously, what would A.N. profit out of choosing a prez? More holidays? Don't you think it's obvious that Johan, as this site's owner, is the one and only prez needed around here...?

Good point TWFirst.
Ok..here's the qualifications:

either 500 posts, or 6 months as a registered user-whichever is higher.

A minimum of 10 verifiable flights..

Must be able to answer an Airliners quiz (which I will develop and post)

And of course win the election!!!

Shouldn't Johan be considered the prime minister (head of government, with all governing power rightly due)? Or perhaps he is the emperor, in the traditional sense.

What Whippy is proposing is a figurehead - president in an Icelandic or Israeli sense - head of state (much like Liz is down in London). Not president in the American sense (executive branch of government).

Gary we know that Johan is a prezzzzz but this is just for fun hehe

If they pick me for president I would have 14 first ladies +3 for spare, waiting in the kitchen hehe. Why 14? Cause in Whitehouse you have 14 bedrooms (thats what I heard! Dont scream at me if I'm wrong!!!) Also I'm working almost next to the White House hehehe, few minutes walking distance!!!
I would close all MacDonalds and replace them with Hooters!!! hehehe

Vote for me! hehehe

There's too many imformative people around this site for me to decide! Last time I mentioned names, I got pretty busted with the administrators so no names mentioned. I find this however very hard. Maybe anyone other than me!

BTW Lindy, you've made a tactical error. Now that I've seen your picture, I am confident I can kick your Polish ass

Thats not an error. I can give you even my name, Rafal Szczypek. You can see my name on the top in the About Airliners.net section. I have there around 1236 crapy pictures.
I'm not affraid of meting you, I met so many people from Airliners.net. I can give you tour at DCA & IAD. On September 9th 3 people from Belgium (airliners.net members) coming to visit me. I'll be their tour guide on DCA IAD BWI and PHL. On September 25th another airliners.net user from Los Angeles coming to DC and asked me if I can guide him here at local airports.

Put your picture here. I wanna see what kind of HUNK- STUD is on the other side.

BTW - Your favorite airline is using my pictures on their TWA.COM web site hehehe I let them use it for free cause they are in bad shape even they made first time profit since late 80s.

I hope you're joking with me as I was with you. If not dude, can't you tell when someone is giving you shit?? Where in the hell did you get the ridiculous idea I hate Polish people?? I don't hate any nationality. Quite the contrary. I love meeting people from other countries!!! Unfortunately, you seem to hate people from my home country, "Bonesmokia".

I don't know any Polish jokes.

And, you wouldn't have to worry about walking alone with me. If your comments are indicative of your intelligence level, you're definitely not my type (plus, I hear Polish people don't take many baths...)

I'm joking!!!!!! Lighten up.

Back to the topic, I thought someone's going to post a quiz here. When is it going to arrive? I want to see the results of the election!

Lindy: Polish BUTT then. Is that better? (You have a point. "Ass" could be interpreted as fightin' words. "Butt" is probably a better word choice to communicate that I was just trying to engage in friendly banter.)
